Chapter 20 (1/2)
CHAPTER 20: THE BIRTH OF A GENIUS
“Ah …. No … I’m not looking at anything, why did you just
laugh?”
“No, no … I didn’t laugh,
… Are you full? Or you still want to eat?”
“I’m still eating, why not?” Zhang Yang said while standing
up and running towards the hall to fill the bowl with rice. Seeing Du Xue’s
eyes wide open, his face had an unfathomable expression.
“He He, it’s for good health, can’t do anything about it.”
“Don’t you want to try some other dishes?”
“No need for that, you see, I can eat a bowl of rice with
this egg tomato soup.” Zhang Yang said as he poured down a huge amount of egg
soup in his rice bowl. “ It’s been several days since I haven’t eaten … maybe
that’s why this rice tastes delicious.”
“I heard that you are from C City, so why don’t you go to
your home to eat?”
“I’m not native to C City, I only moved to C City few years
ago. My parents go out to work and I am simply too lazy to stay at home so gave
the house for rent to live in school, both economical and convenient.”
“Oh!”
…..
The two were silent again. Zhang Yang was now eating the rice
much slower and kept secretly watching the girl, suddenly, this girl who seemed
merely beautiful at first was now beginning to look more interesting, more
beautiful and pure just like a lotus emerging unstained from the filth.
Zhang Yang could not help but secretly sigh. It’s a pity that
his reputation at school was too spoiled, otherwise this actually was a good
opportunity to pursue her.
“Do you like literature?” Finally Du Xue finished the bowl
of rice and put down the bowl. She couldn’t find any words to talk about.
“Nope, I don’t.” Zhang Yang also put down his bowl, to take
a sip of the tea.
“You don’t like it?” Du Xue was surprised for a moment. “I
thought that you replied with a lot of insight on the poem.”
“There’s no insight. The theory was an awful mess, in fact,
I also like Yue Fei. I was unable to escape at that time so I merely explained
what I understood, I feel really sorry for that old man ….”
“He he ..” Our teacher looked so regretful when you left.
You know what, he said that your thoughts were extra ordinary.
“Really!”
Zhang Yang lacked interest, but when as she mentioned
poetry, he suddenly felt the urge to go to the library to look again for the
math book that he hadn’t yet finished reading.
The two were speaking for a minute and kept silent for the next,
but, none of them talked about leaving, as if an invisible force was making
them stay. Du Xue was just curious about Zhang Yang while Zhang Yang had a kind
of heteros.e.xual attraction for Du Xue. Nevertheless the two didn’t seem to find
a common topic, although Zhang yang had countless literary knowledge inside his
head but he was unable to access them as he was simply not interested in those
matter.
“Xue'er!”
“Xue'er!”
When the two were racking their brains to find a topic of
conversation, a male voice came from the outside.
“Ah …. Brother Fei ,
here!”
Du Xue’s voice lowered, a tall, thin young man pulled open
the curtain of the room. The young man’s face appeared pale, just like the
student from the Chinese department on whose chair Zhang Yang had been sitting.
“Xue, I’ve been looking for you for a long time and you didn’t
even answer the phone.” The young man talked with Du Xue as if Zhang Yang didn’t
exist there in general.
“Oh, ……… I forgot my phone at the dormitory, Fei brother,
this is Zhang Yang, student of fine arts department.” Du Xue stood up and
introduced them.
“h.e.l.lo, Zhang Yang.” Zhang Yang stood up and stretched out
his hand.
“Zhang Yang, I know, the peeping prince of school, the man
of the hour.” The young man with an
