Kitty whispered back, ”thank you for the concern but it will be fine. Be safe on the trip back.” She let go of Michelle and hugged Janet then Liz. ”I will see you guys out.” She leads the group to the front door.

Ketan and Rex walked through the door and Ketan dragged Rex up the stairs until the two were standing in Ketan's room. ”We might be dry but it is not normal with that storm. We can not let the humans see us.”

”I am aware of that child. I am used to not getting wet from the rain. The humans are loading up in the bus that was out front. They will be all gone in a moment.” Rex sat on the chair and waited.

Leo knocked on the door. ”Come on, it is safe to go down now. I know that they are still here but they are all leaving now.” He left the door and walked down the stairs and there was Kitty standing there waiting.

Rex followed Leo down and saw the angry look on Kitty's face. ”Kitten, I am really sorry.”

”Don't you, Kitten, me, Berith!” Kitty turned away and stormed into the living room.

Rex let out a sigh and followed her and sat down across from her. ”Kitsune, you know that I could not come even if I wanted to. I know how much she meant to you.”

”I wanted you to come back and you left me alone.” Kitty started crying. ”Grandfather, are you back now?”

Leo sat down next Kitty and pulled her in. He didn't speak but just held her.

As the rest of the household came into the living room. ”Since everyone is here that needs to hear this. I am Berith, the demon lord of the north. I have been alive for I think five thousand years but it could be more. About seventy-five years ago I found the one that changed my life. I swore that I would be there for her but the hunters got her when our daughter turned ten. I was devastated. I went on a rampage and killed the hunters involved.” Rex let out his breath.

Kitty stopped crying and stared at Rex as he finally was coming clean about what happened.

”I blamed myself for her death. I was a life bearer in the past and I did not want to curse anyone so I never passed on the curse. That never bothered Doris. She was my everything and when I lost her, I snapped. It was my daughter Linda who freed me. She undid the bond on me and my deceased wife. I remember her saying, Father, I would not be able to bear losing you as you go on a rampage,” Rex shook his head.
