Cindy sits on the chair that is at the counter and watches him move around the kitchen like a pro. ”I too feel like Kitty is an older sister but I grew up with her in our hometown and then she had to leave the town. She doesn't complain about anything really. That is why I believe that she is a strong leader.”
”I could see that she has a strong personality. She was meant to lead her clan.” Carlos takes a teaspoon and dips into the white mushroom sauce and holds it out for Cindy to taste. ”How do you like this?”
Cindy leans forward and tastes the sauce. ”Oh, that is quite rich and very creamy. How did you make the sauce? I saw you adding ingredients as I was putting the groceries away. I am amazed at how fast you can whip up the food for a meal.”
He tosses the spoon in the sink, ”I have a lot of training under my belt. I went to school for cooking. I thought if I was going to have to eat a lot of food I should at the very least be able to enjoy what I eat. I prepped a lot beforehand so all I really had to do was mix it all together. It's not hard for me to change the menu to accommodate more people. I just have to alter a little bit here and there. The sauce is not hard to make I will teach you next time I make it.” He winks and quickly goes back to preparing the food.
”That makes sense. I look forward to you teaching me. For myself, I became a midwife because I love babies and it will help our clan to have one of our own kind to be able to be in charge of the process. Kitty is the first in our clan to get pregnant. None of us were expecting that to happen but it did and I know for a fact that all of us are happy for her. I am just the lucky one that gets to stay by her side.” She looks over to the door of the dining room, ”sometimes things don't go as planned but that is the way life is. Kitty talks like that a lot it must be rubbing off on me.” Cindy giggles and watches Carlos continue cooking.
”That is definitely something Kitty would say. It is commendable, the reason you became a midwife that is. I am sure that you will be good at it.” He pulls the pan off the stove and places on an oven mitt. He grabs plates and scoops pasta onto the plates. He opens the oven, checks the temperature of the chicken and pulls it out. Carlos uses tongs to place the chicken onto the pasta. Once the chicken is placed down he adds the sauce and then adds a little fresh parsley on the top. ”You can start bringing these out I will follow you, after I whip up a salad. The two fairly bigger portions are for me and the kid.” He walks to the fridge and starts grabbing the ingredients for a salad.
Cindy grabbed the four plates and carried them to the table. She placed one in front of Luke and one beside Kitty. She placed the other two plates across from Kitty and beside Luke. ”The sketch is really coming along. I relly love your work, Kitty.” She sits down across from Kitty and pours herself some of the fruit punch.
Kitty looks at the sketch and smiles. ”Well, it is going to be my new bookroom I might as well design it the way I want, as I will be spending a lot of time in that room.” She stacks everything up and moves it to the empty chair beside herself. She reaches out in front of herself and yawns a little. ”This looks quite good. It looks like he learned to cook rather well.” She moves the food to be in front of herself and she waits for everyone to be at the table.
Carlos comes out carrying a basket of buns and a fairly big bowl of salad. He places them down smiles. ”This is dinner, if it is not enough then I will go and make more. Just let me know if it isn't enough.” He sits down next to Cindy and starts to dig into the food.
Luke grabs a bun and dips it into the sauce on his plate and starts eating the meal. ”Carlos you are really good at cooking. Thank you for cooking all of us dinner.” He says this and then goes back to eating his dinner.
Cindy starts to eat the food. Since she had already tasted the sauce in the kitchen she was not as surprised by the taste but it was still extremely good. She ate her food quietly.
