Chapter 46 (1/2)

After the laboratory technician from the blood test team finished examining the electron microscope, he gave Zhou Wen a huge thumbs up and said sincerely, “Impressive!”

The rest of the people in the laboratory surrounded the area in succession. Other than disbelief, there was only admiration from the people who had seen the DNA strand in the electron microscope.

In the technicality industry, the quickest way to win others’ respect was very simple. If one could perform a task that someone else could, but at a swifter speed and with a better result, the others would learn to admire the person.

That being said, Zhou Wen’s technical skill received unanimous approval from the masters of the teams in the laboratory department.

Everyone, including the people from the PCR team and viral test team, that doubted him ever so slightly in the past were now fully convinced of his capabilities.

It was already freaking awesome that Zhou Wen could increase the speed of DNA extraction to less than an hour, and then there was his final, magical stroke afterward. He did not even perform the electron microscope observation before he shut off the timer at the end. This was a sign of his extreme confidence in his skill.

One had no choice but to be convinced, and everyone complimented him incessantly.

Even though Zhou Wen enjoyed this feeling secretly in his heart, he acted humble beyond comparison on the surface.

The people in the laboratory were his seniors, and they may even be seniors who graduated from Jiang Zhou University’s Biology program. He could not allow himself to become highly conceited.

He chatted with the crowd for a while, and one of the female laboratory technicians told him that she had just managed to add the colorant after one hour of the white mouse DNA extraction.

Zhou Wen looked toward the small centrifuge placed next to her workbench following the sound of her voice.

He was under the assumption that the penetrability of his Truevision would be blocked by the metal contained in the centrifuge just as he had experienced before.

Yet, he did not expect that his Truevision would penetrate the centrifuge’s outer shell with ease, and he could see the centrifugal tube inside.

Zhou Wen was overjoyed!

He discovered that the Truevision could not penetrate through metal objects and also objects with a certain thickness such as special plastics and bricks when he first acquired the system.

He did not expect that he would suddenly be able to see through those things now. The first thought that came into his mind was that his Truevision had been upgraded.

So, he chatted for a while longer with the group of laboratory technicians inside the laboratory before he attempted to leave the place in a rush.

However, the people crowding around the corridor surrounded him upon seeing that he exited the room.

“Zhou Wen, I didn’t expect you to be so impressive!”

“I thought that my speed is already fast enough, yet my performance is nothing compared to yours.”

“How did you do that?”

Everyone engaged in a lively conversation with him and complimented him without the slightest reservation.

Zhou Wen answered humbly while chuckling. Having been bombarded with questions, he chatted with them for a while before he left.

He brought up the system eagerly along the way and screened through the interface from top to bottom.

Host: [Zhou Wen]

Occupation: [Apprentice Pharmacist, 200/1000]

Truevision: [Lvl 1; 1/10000]

Zhou Wen was delighted to find that his Truevision was upgraded, just as expected.

In the beginning, he was under the assumption that it would be very easy for him to upgrade the Truevision, but he discovered later on that it was not as simple as he had imagined. The system adopted strict requirements in determining the experience gained to upgrade Truevision.

For example, his act of checking people’s individual properties casually on the streets could not contribute to his experience points. He must utilize it during experiments or missions to have it qualified for points.

Moreover, the usage of his Truevision did not lead to higher points at a constant rate; instead, its XP value stopped growing after he reached a certain frequency of use. It was very infuriating.

Nevertheless, he managed to upgrade it at last.

Zhou Wen arrived at the entrance of the elevator and used his Truevision to look toward the metal door. His vision penetrated the 1.2mm thick steel plate with ease, and he realized that nobody was inside.

With that realization, Zhou Wen was in a good mood deep down. This upgrade would allow him to work faster when he was conducting experiments from now on.

The Truevision could not penetrate through the centrifuge and PCR machines before. As a result, he was incapable of mastering the optimal temperature and time for the centrifugal process. However, it was different now. There was no need for him to utilize his XP Points anymore. He could see right through the machines, which would be extremely helpful for him in experiments.

After he entered the elevator, his vision penetrated the metal sheet as he looked through the wall behind him.

He discovered that his Truevision penetrated about 5cm deeper before he could no longer see any further.

It was fine for his vision to penetrate ordinary brick walls at this distance, but it was different with reinforced concrete.

Soon afterward, he thought about another question. He wondered if it would be different when he looked at people using the upgraded Truevision.

He wondered if he would be able to acquire even more specific information now.

Then, he arrived on the sixth floor. The elevator door opened to reveal his two acquainted laboratory technicians who were chatting in the corridor.

He immediately cast a glance at one of them using his Truevision.

[Name: Li Tingxin. Gender: Male. Age: 27. Occupation: Laboratory technician. Physical state: First stage hemorrhoid. Mental state: Good.]

“F*ck..” Zhou Wen almost leaped up in excitement after seeing the data displayed before his eyes.

It was impressive that he could see a person’s physical state in such an easy manner.

For example, a disease like cancer that had a high fatality rate was mainly due to the disease having progressed to a late stage by the time it was discovered.

If the disease could be discovered sooner, such as an early stage of cancer that had yet to metastasize, it could totally be cured by surgically removing the cancerous tumor.

Suzhou Wen then looked toward the next person and discovered that the person had a migraine.

Li Tingxin and the other person noticed Zhou Wen’s return, so they greeted him before they continued to discuss their experiments.
