Chapter 1403 - Meeting An Lan again (1/2)
“So, he’s going to fight tooth and nail on this?” Yan Su was fuming. “I spent a lot of time on ‘Fearless,’ so there’s no way I’m going to let him own the masters to the song. He says he’s only going to give me the rights to perform the song, but he gets to keep the earnings from all my performances. That’s ludicrous.”
Xiang Wan sighed. “If only we had the ma.n.u.script. Why did you hand it over to him? I’ll go look through the contract and see if we can settle this out of court; if not, we’ll have to follow protocol with our legal team.”
“Okay,” said Yan Su, nodding. Her head was spinning. She never saw this coming.
…
Over the next few days, Xiang Wan tried to mediate things with Ye Yunchang’s managing company, but they proposed an earnings ratio of 2:7. Yan Su would only be keeping 20% of the profits. Xiang Wan was outraged, and she posted the lawyer’s letter online.
Once again, Yan Su was in the headlines.
When Mo Liuxi heard the news in school, he called Yan Su immediately. “Do you want me to settle this for you? Ye Yunchang is asking for a beating.”
If he had known this during the auditions, he wouldn’t have suggested him to sing the theme song with Yan Su.
“How are you going to settle this? By kicking him out of the entertainment industry?” Yan Su was frustrated. “He’s not going to budge. We’ve already received some pretty good offers from streaming networks for streaming rights to this song. He is dying to grab hold of the masters of this track. I’ll be meeting An Lan in a couple of days to discuss the case. I’ll get back to you.”
“An Lan?” Mo Liuxi raised his brow.
“Yeah, I signed a contract with the company. She’ll be in charge of all of my cases from now on.” Yan Su laughed and said, she settled the copyright case for me last time, too.”
Mo Liuxi got annoyed at the mention of An Lan’sname, but he trusted her professional abilities, no doubt. He had heard from Nian Junting that Shengting had signed a long-term working contract with An Lan’s law firm and that An Lan was getting better at her craft. She wasn’t considered a top lawyer yet because of her young age, but her reputation and track record rivaled that of a top lawyer.
