Chapter 488 - A Sinister Scheme (2/2)
It had happened too quickly. It happened at such a speed that even Ling Yichen did not realize the abnormal look in Ling Chuxi’s eyes. Even Ling Chuxi herself could not come up with any response in time. She only felt that her whole state of mind was falling down continuously into an endless black hole. Falling and falling into a world without an end.
“How could this be?” exclaimed Ling Chuxi in her heart with her only remaining consciousness. She wanted to break free from the endless black hole her mind was falling into, yet she found that she was powerless to do so.
“Ding!” A clear bell of a note drifted into her ears suddenly. It sounded like a sharp sword being unsheathed, like a black dragon wailing in distant skies.
In the midst of that endless pitch-black darkness her mind tumbled into, a blurry yet chilling gleam flashed past all of a sudden. The vague and unclear vision of a modest and ancient sword piercing the heavens and the skies appeared.
Suddenly a bright light flashed, and it was so dazzling that it made one almost unable to open their eyes. The vague chilling gleam was gradually transforming and soon an ethereal figure appeared before her eyes like an illusion. The figure seemed to give a long howl at the skies and then flew towards the endless dark abyss.
The gleam of the ancient sword radiated in all directions, looking like numerous black dragons sweeping across the skies. The endless pitch darkness before Ling Chuxi’s eyes was torn apart by the dazzling gleam of the sword. Its light was transparent, bright and clear like nothing she had ever seen before.
That ethereal figure appeared before Ling Chuxi’s eyes once again. Yet, the sight of the figure was still so obscure and imaginary that she couldn’t fully perceive it. Yet, it felt so clear. She felt the watchfulness of the obscure pair of eyes which were full of perseverance and sharpness looking at her for a long time. After that, the vision slowly disappeared.
Ling Chuxi’s eyes lit up and her consciousness returned. She could only see the veiled woman’s eyes, still looking at her from afar. The Luo Chen sword at her waist was still emitting bursts of light trembles.
‘What had just happened exactly? Could it all have been an illusion? But why did it feel so real then?’ Ling Chuxi put her hand to the hilt of the Luo Chen Sword and felt as if she had actually been cut off from the outside world for ages with many generations having pa.s.sed.
She knew that all those visions earlier were not merely illusions. If her mind had continued to fall into that pitch-black darkness just now, perhaps she would never have woken up again.
