“No, I don’t want grandfather to die. I don’t want!” came the sound of Ling s.h.i.+yu’s voice. It was just that there was no more crying this time round.

Ling Chuxi could not bear to continue listening to their conversation. She abruptly pushed the doors wide open and rushed inside.

The house was filled with a faint b.l.o.o.d.y stench. The second elder was half lying on the bed. His face was incomparably pale, as if he had aged more than ten years. Seeing Ling Chuxi suddenly entering, the second elder was stunned.

“Chuxi, why have you returned?!” he asked. His tone contained a little worry and blame.

“I won’t return, I won’t return again. Do you want me to just send you off without even letting me see you for the last time?!” Ling Chuxi’s nose had started to tingle, like she was about to cry, as she hollered angrily.

He was already injured to such an extent, and yet he was actually still unwilling to let people bring word to her and get her to return. All because he was worried that her studies at the academy would be affected!
