1374 What a Coincidence (2/2)
He decided to choose a book and then find a seat.
As he has no specific goal, he is completely choosing a book at random. He strolled between the bookshelf and browsed the vast sea of books. His nose is filled with the smell of fresh ink and incense that is unique to paper books. He browsed, touched, and held various books. He grabbed a few picture books and unknowingly, made his way into the tools section of the library.
It makes sense that the tools reference book is not included in his reading plans. He merely accidentally walked into the area as it is easy to get lost between the bookshelves.
There are already enough books in his hand, and he may not be able to finish reading them within the morning. It is like eating a buffet. It is always easier to take more than one can eat. He decided to find a place to sit down and read.
Just as he turned around, the corner of his eye slid into a position on the shelf on his side, as if there was a book there. However, no book was there as it was taken away, leaving a narrow gap...
Or... there is an invisible book in its place.
He didn't know why he suddenly came up with this weird thought. Maybe it was because the book was taken away, but the ”Royal Academy Dictionary” and ”McMillan English Dictionary” on its left and right sides did not fall and tilt towards the empty space between them. It was as if there is still an invisible book that occupies the empty space, and merely ordinary people can't see it.
This ridiculous thought is obviously unrealistic. The books here are thick and heavy, with a solid and strong cover and back cover. This makes them stable on the shelf, even if the book next to it have been taken away. They are unlikely to slump or tilt, unlike thin books.
Someone actually borrowed this kind of reference book...
This row of bookshelves is cramped full of English books and English dictionaries. Only readers with a master's degree in English literature will find this section relevant to their needs.
But...perhaps of his obsessive-compulsive disorder. If he doesn't verify if there is an invisible book in that empty space, he feels that his heart will not find peace.
The method of verification is very simple, just use his hand, place it between the two books, and reach out into the empty space.
If you can provide a solution to the disorder with a little effort, why not?
So he reached out...
Just when the finger was about to reach the empty space, the ”McMillan English Dictionary” next to it was suddenly taken away. Of course, it was not taken away by him, but by the person standing on the other side of the bookshelf...
And his hand subconsciously stopped in its path.
With two books missing, the gap became bigger, and a pair of eyes were seen on the other side of the gap. Those big and attractive eyes left him a strong impression.
Even if he can only see a part of the face, he recognizes it immediately. There was no doubt about it - The person is Zhuang Xiaodie.
What a coincidence! Is she actually in the library too?
She also looked at him through the gap from across the bookshelf.
