Zhang Zian concluded that the situation was not good for the Pomeranian because of its low blood sugar. The others felt amazed––they didn't know that even dogs could have low blood sugar; it was their first time hearing of that.
The grandmother, on the other hand, was not as surprised as the others. She just acknowledged the fact and asked, ”Low blood sugar, then… Will it be fine if I just feed it some candy? Aiya, I don't have any candy on me…”
Chu Manhua took out a piece of chocolate candy from her pocket. ”I have a candy on me. Since the last time I fainted, I always have candy on me.”
”Not this candy. Dogs can't eat chocolate, it'll kill them!” Zhang Zian quickly and sternly informed her. ”Don't ever let your dog eat chocolate.”
”Ah? Okay, then. I really didn't know about this before…” Chu Manhua awkwardly put the candy back in her pocket. ”Then… what about candies that don't contain any chocolate?”
”Not those, either. To be precise, they need something to replenish their sugar level; it's purpose is not to simply eat candy,” Zhang Zian corrected. He then turned back to the grandmother and said, ”You just need to prepare a bag of glucose at home––the medical kind––then add two drops of it into the water it drinks. It'll be fine after that.”
”So simple?” The grandmother couldn't believe her ears. The Pomeranian had been unenergetic for a very long time, and it had been growing very slowly, too. Could those problems really be solved by such a simple method?
Zhang Zian nodded and explained, ”Low blood sugar is a common symptom among young Pomeranians, and it can lead to depression, weakness, loss of appetite, and an elevated body temperature. If the situation is severe, it may faint and convulse, or even die. People who are not aware of the situation could easily ignore the symptoms and only think that it's being very obedient until it becomes too severe and nothing can be done.”
”Aiyo, so it's that serious…” the old grandmother said with fear. ”Fortunately, I brought it here to consult with you. Otherwise, the problem would have continued to drag on…”
”If your condition permits, you could also buy some nutrition cream for it to supplement nutrition, but it's best to mix the nutrition cream into some rice or dog food. If you let it eat the nutrition cream alone, it might get picky with its food; it might refuse to touch other foods aside from the nutrition cream, and that would be very troublesome,” Zhang Zian added.
”Nutrition cream…” The grandmother looked up at the shelves full of products. ”How much is the nutrition cream? Do you have it here?”
”We do.”

The old grandmother's eyes were not as good as they used to be, and she left home without her glasses that day. Usually, it was Lu Yiyun's responsibility to organizes the shelves. All the items purchased in the store that came with an expiration date was recorded by her, then they would be placed in the most conspicuous position in order to sell them as soon as possible; it was just like how it was done in the supermarket.
