Zhang Zian touched his face and thought to himself.
He looked out the window. It started raining for real. What should I do? Is the rain karma for not buying an umbrella before hiking up? Or is something going to happen to me so that I am trapped in this mountain? Zhang Zian continued these thoughts in his mind.
The misty rain didn’t make any noise as it touched the ground, therefore he and Snowy didn’t realize it was raining until Sister Ye told them.
The fog disappeared from the rain. The whole mountain was full of green trees, a fantastic scene.
Zhang Zian walked up to the window. Far away, in the misty rain, there was the white coastal line winding through to the east.
”On sunny days, you can clearly see some landmark buildings from here… I wish there were more sunny days,” the female owner said as she and the waitress both walked up to another window.
Zhang Zian followed her line of sight to see where she landed her eyes. He could see the field of Binhai University. There weren’t tall buildings in the way, so the beautiful green field stood out quite well. Using Binhai University as alandmark, he should be able to see his pet store; however, the visibility was too low today.
”I brought an umbrella.” Snowy unzipped her backpack and pulled out a small purple folding umbrella. It was so small that only one person could fit under it. If two people got under that umbrella, each would get half of their body wet.
”Come on. You take it,” she said as she handed over the umbrella.
”How about you?” Zhang Zian asked.
”My wind-breaker is water resistant. I will be fine wearing it with my hood on.” She smiled and put up two fingers in a V-shape. ”I am not in a hurry anyways. I can wait here for a bit longer if I have to.”
”You’d better not,” the female owner interrupted. ”The rain isn’t bad. If you use an umbrella, it is difficult to balance. The stone steps are very slippery in the rain; you might slip on your way down. I don’t think the rain will last long. Why don’t you wait? Are you in a hurry, sir?”
Zhang Zian hesitated. It was risky to leave in the rain, but no one could tell if the rain would stop soon or if it would get worse.
Snowy replied quickly, ”He is the manager in a pet store. I guess he is in a rush to go back to the store and feed the pets.”
”Oh, really?” Sister Ye and Anxin looked at each other. What a coincidence. They were just talking about getting a pet and here was a pet store owner.
”Is it why you call him Mr. Manager?” Sister Ye asked.
The viewers all try to verify, ”No no no, we all call him ‘Mr. Sexual Harassment’ or ‘Mr. Pretend-To-Know-It-All.’ You should call him that!” However, Sister Ye and Anxin weren’t looking at the monitor, so they didn’t see the viewers’ comments.
Snowy said, ”That’s right. Mr. Manager is a super pet store owner. The cats in his store are well trained and have special skills.”
”Really? That’s great!” Sister Ye and Anxin thought Snowy was just being nice, so they didn’t pay extra attention. The so-called special skill might be very simple tricks such as pets putting their paws on a human’s hand.
Zhang Zian said humbly, ”Well, you are exaggerating… my pets are only a bit better than those sold in any other pet store in the world.”
