“Still not good, even if the tower continues to shoot till dawn the range is still not wide enough.” Li Yao sighed as he retrieved the Arrow Tower.
Li Yao shook his head. He was no longer fixated and now his main goal was to get copper ores and blueprints.
Li Yao knew a place where he could get a copper mine contract from completing a task. With the contract, the copper mine would belong to him. He would not waste his time to learn Mining skill, it would be such an embarrassment to him if he were to become a miner after his rebirth.
Even in the real world, it took only three or four people to operate a mine. The entire mining process was controlled using computers. With the remaining free time you could do whatever you wanted to do.
After his rebirth, Li Yao wanted to do it in a faster, more efficient way. After obtaining the ownership of the mine, he would be able to start mining with the NPCs and receive three times worth of rewards, making his life more comfortable.
Now that the mines were still marked and occupied by monsters, he had to complete the task to get the ownership.
While Li Yao was strategizing the fastest way to own a mine, he heard someone shouting from a distance. “Bro, start running!” the person shouted.
Li Yao looked in the direction of the voice, his face turned pale in an instant. He saw a plump guy running in his direction at a speed not proportional with his hefty size. Behind the plump guy were a dozen Demon Wolves chasing and howling.
“Holy!” Li Yao silently swore at the despicable fatso. He began to run.
“Why’d you run toward this direction?”
“Bro, there was no way to run,” shouted MeatyBod.
“You’re such a nuisance.” Li Yao’s feet began to pick up more speed. He did not let the fatso outrun him.
Both of them ran for ten minutes until the wolf pack had completely trailed off. They rested under a big tree and tried to catch their breaths. The fatso was completely drenched in sweat.
“Dude, you’re good, you are almost faster than me. Seems like you are equipped with speed equipment,” said Li Yao. MeatyBod offered a handshake with his sweaty, glistening big hand. “Let me introduce myself, I’m MeatyBod.”
“Your whole body must be made of fat, and please wipe off the mud and sweat in your hands before shaking my hand.” Li Yao took a few steps back. “I’m Liao Yuan, a nobody.”
Li Yao knew this player in his past life, he was the bandit from the Beacon team. He was ranked in the top 50 bandits, a really tough player, and do not think that being in the top 50 meant nothing. Ten years later there would be almost two billion players in the game, with twenty three million players as bandits. He was considered to be a quasi-master to be ranked top 50 amongst the other twenty billion bandits.
Later, he was known as the fattest high elf known in history, the direct opposite of an elf’s beauty and figure. He was also a famous wretch, but he was still a good person and befriended Li Yao in the past.
“Which combat team are you from? You have such luxurious equipment and they are much stronger than mine.” Without feeling awkward at all, MeatyBod leaned against the big tree and continued panting.
“I don’t have a team or teammates. I will be unlucky if it’s you, for attracting so many monsters. If I didn’t have my speed equipment on, I would have definitely died in your hands.”
“That was a mistake bro,” replied MeatyBod, he felt embarrassed. “What you don’t know is, our team leader was motivated by Starfire or whatever his name is. He became so eager after listening to stories about him soloing a boss. This morning, he brought the entire team to hunt Level 4 elites because he doesn’t like being second.”
“And… things became tragic?” Li Yao asked, his tone filled with curiosity.
“Sigh, it was more than just a tragedy, it was way worse. First, we killed a Level 4 elite, while we were killing a second elite our MT died. Then, a blood bath ensued. The team began running, with each step more players were lost, and the more we ran the more monsters began to follow. In the end, I’m the only player alive.”
Li Yao was slightly delighted. “Then, why does it sound like you are gloating over their deaths?”
“Haha, you got me. Why wouldn’t I be glad, now I’m the highest-level player in my team. Besides, it wasn’t just my team. I have gotten news that other major guilds and clubs have suffered big losses this morning. That is the real tragedy. Hahahaha, that Starfire fella must be something else, causing so many problems.”
“But I kind of like this Starfire dude, I would like to get to know him too, too bad, hahaha.” MeatyBod gave another hearty laugh.
Li Yao’s lips twitched. He never wanted this to happen. They could have hunted for Level 2 or 3 mobs, why would they skip and challenge such high-level mobs.
“Sigh, no more gossiping, my team leader and other members have revived. Time for me to go, hope to catch up with you soon.” MeatyBod sent a friend request.
Li Yao accepted the friend request. MeatyBod waved his hands, entered into Stealth mode and left. His name appeared in Liao Yuan’s name list.
Li Yao shook his head. He did not have the slightest bit of sympathy toward the guilds’ losses. After he had pinpointed his destination, he began running toward the direction. This time, he complained about not having a mount.
The Mogor Mountain was located north of the Sun Tower and required players to bypass two Level 4 and 5 monster areas. Li Yao followed the safest route by taking a detour around areas with monsters such as Demonic Sapling and Bobcat. When he could not get pass, he would use Arrow Towers to clear out a path. Aside from the monsters, the route was safe, he was not stupid to waste time taking the main road just because of a bunch of monsters.
All year round, the Mogor Mountain was enveloped in a faint, poisonous mist. Players without specialized equipment or antidote to resist the poison would suffer continuous poison damage that would slowly eat up the player’s health. That was what make this place so quiet, Li Yao could not see any players around the area from the mountain range.
Around the mountain range were Level 4 Golden Poisonous Dart Frogs, which was the Earth’s most poisonous creature. In this game, the frogs were just low-level poisonous mobs.
After Li Yao had downed a bottle of Beginner’s Antidote, the poisonous mist had no effect on him. The antidote could only last fifteen minutes, and just like that he had consumed an average player’s daily income.
Around the mountain’s perimeter were normal mobs, they were no threat to Li Yao at all. Due to the antidote’s effect the frog’s poisonous dart would not do much damage to him. Li Yao made it through the valley with ease. By relying on his memory, he found the mountain cave.
There were no mobs in the cave, just a pile of ashes and a skeleton frame. Li Yao touched the skeleton and the entire frame crumbled into ashes.
Li Yao held his breath and swept the ashes away with dried twigs. Finally, he saw a glowing, green ring.
Carefully, Li Yao picked up the ring and blew away the remaining ashes. The inside of the ring was engraved with tiny inscriptions, ‘Bless my beloved Alia – Dalkan.’
Dalkan was the biggest traitor of the High Elves. He was the one who told the Lich King about the flaws in the Sunwell’s protection spell, allowing the King to bring his horde of undeads straight into the defenseless kingdom.
After the war, the King of High Elves and Silvermoon’s High Council members were all dead. During that time, General Sylvanas died protecting Silvermoon City and was controlled by Frostmourne, a mythical instrument. She was turned into a Banshee and became the Queen of the Undead. The Sunwell was then contaminated by the evil forces.
The High Elves’ population instantly dropped by 60%. It took them thousands of years to restore back to their original vitality, but they had yet to recuperate from the traumatic event.
