Li Yao took out his pocket knife and started looting the materials found on the dead Elite Velociraptor. Any player with an uncommon-grade pocket knife would be able to collect materials for a total of three times from the monster’s carcass.

In World of Ancient Gods, only humanoid creatures would drop coins and equipment, whereas animalistic creatures would drop materials. Each creature’s loot could be collected three times.

Based on Li Yao’s assumption, only he would be able to collect each loot three times. In his past life, players would only spend their in-game currency to purchase an uncommon-grade pocket knife after they had reached Level 10. Only then would they realize that an uncommon-grade pocket knife would allow them to collect materials dropped by monsters for a total of three times. After they had finally found out, many players protested against the game administrators.

Striking the monster’s critical weak point would cause the monster to drop materials. Hence, even without using a pocket knife, players could still collect materials. Having learnt the Skinning Life Skill, players would be granted another chance to collect materials.

“You have acquired Elite Velociraptor’s Crown (Green).”

“You have acquired Velociraptor’s Claws (White).”

“You have acquired Velociraptor’s Scales (White).”

“You have acquired Elite Velociraptor’s” Hamstrings (Green).”

“You have acquired arrow (43).”

The system beeped.

The crown was a critical hit reward and could only be acquired after striking the Velociraptor’s crown multiple times. After inflicting vast amounts of damage, the crown would then be available for collection.

The arrows retrieved from killing monsters were compensated by the game system. Or else, there would not be enough arrows for hunters even if they were to buy a backpack full of arrows for their adventure. He used one hundred arrows to kill the elite monster, only forty three arrows were retrievable, which meant that almost half of the arrows were lost.

After killing three elite monsters, Li Yao finally levelled up to Level 1.

It had been two days since the game started, most of the average players would team up to fight against normal monsters. Even though some big guilds had their own elite teams, they still had a hard time defeating elite monsters. There were basically no players who were like Li Yao, playing solo and facing monsters unaccompanied. It was only possible for Li Yao since he was reborn, otherwise no player could level up like this.

After having gained five attribute points from levelling up, he decided to upgrade his strength +3 and his agility +2. The points were well divided.

Levelling up in World of Ancient Gods was extremely difficult. Li Yao killed monsters that were a few levels higher than him, not only that, the monsters he had slain were elites. After killing three elite monsters, he had only gained one level. It would take him another few dozens of elite monsters to reach Level 2.

That was the reason why two days since the game had been launched, the highest level players could reach was only Level 3. There were no Level 4 players yet.

Meanwhile, Li Yao had obtained a Battle Soul and two Defense Souls from killing 3 elite monsters. Battle Souls were used to strengthen weapons, whereas Defense Souls were used to fortify defensive equipment.

These souls would only be dropped by non-humanoid monsters. For elite monsters and above, one soul would be dropped if their critical weak spot were hit. There was very low drop rate if the hits were normal hits. These together with the plenty of materials dropped by the monsters were the reasons why animalistic monsters were highly sought after.

“Finally, I have found one.”

As Li Yao, now Level 2, had finished off his fifty-sixth elite monster, he saw a faint, yellow glow he had been longing to see among the bushes.

“Brass Treasure Box, I might find some good stuff inside.”

Without even collecting his loot, Li Yao started opening the treasure box. Treasure boxes around the novice village area did not have locks, therefore anyone could open it.

“You have acquired a skill book, Shadow Flip.”

“You have acquired 50 copper coins.”

“You have acquired Bronze Sword.”

Shadow Flip was a dodging skill for Hunters. The skill was said to be an upgraded version of Side Shift, it could be used in all directions. Without hesitation, Li Yao learned the skill. Now equipped with this skill it would be easier for him to kill elite monsters, and it would not be as dangerous to face these monsters.

Bronze Sword

Grade: Uncommon (Green)

Attack: 4-8

Strength: 3

Agility: 2

Item Requirement: Level 1

Hunters were able to equip melee weapons, except for hammers. Although the sword’s attack damage could not be added to his bow and arrow damage, its +3 strength and +2 agility were enough to provide him with the equivalent stats of a level upgrade.

While killing the elite monsters, Li Yao scanned each and every corner that would usually go unnoticed. As claimed by some players, three treasure boxes would be refreshed and respawn in the area. Now, he just had to find the other two.

At the same area, a team of players were having a hard time killing off an Elite Velociraptor.

They were all panting hard while munching on bread to recover some health.

The Glory Club was ranked first out of the ten biggest clubs from Hua Xia district. Their team had always scored many brilliant records, pushing their rank to one of the top hundredth guilds. They were deemed as top-class for their achievement in Hua Xia’s game industry.

The team leader, BroadSky was Glory Club’s guild president. At the same time, he was also Hua Xia’s most reputable commander. The rest from the team were also the guild’s elite members.

“I’m going to puke soon if I keep on eating this bread,” said the female priest in the team. With a disdained look, she forced herself to take another bite.

The female priest, named IAmLilFreshie, wore a tight body suit which further exaggerated the outline of her body figure. “Seems like the guild president has successfully brought up more excellent players, but at the same time I’m about to throw up,” said IAmLilFreshie. She sounded charming, but her tone was full of sarcasm.

“Such a deceiving name for a lady like you,” said BroadSky, chuckling. “UnbreakableShield, are you hating on the bread too?”

“Why would I be? I am grateful for being able to join the president in this journey. I have levelled up so much by slaying monsters with you.” UnbreakableShield replied.

“You’re right, I think lots of the other guild members are envious of us. Without the president’s leadership, we would still be fighting common monsters.” With her charming pair of eyes, IAmLilFreshie glanced at UnbreakableShield. “President, if we keep this up, will we be the first batch of players to reach Level 10?”

“Being the first batch to reach Level 10 is very possible, unless we’re talking about the first player to reach Level 10, that’s hard to tell. You see, other guilds and clubs have very strong players as well,” BroadSky replied. “Besides, this game is unlike the others. To us, Free Mode is not easy. From what I have heard, there are a number of martial artists that are levelling up alone.”

“Can those martial artists solo an elite monster?” IAmLilFreshie asked.

“Theoretically speaking, yes, yes they can, but only in theory. There was news from the guild saying that there are skilled, solo players who have tried, but all of them died and was down-levelled.” BroadSky replied. “Based on my estimation, we will have to wait another one and a half years for this player to exist. As for players to solo a boss, maybe another few more years.”
