105 Army of Clones (1/2)
These muscular and sturdy clones all floated in the red liquid inside the glass cabin, as though they were soaked in their mother's fetus amniotic fluids. The expressions on their faces were filled with childish innocent and calmness, as though they were still in the womb and had not 'arrived' in this world yet.
However, the number of them which was thousands upon thousands truly caused his blood to run cold as his scalp felt numb.
Only the measuring instruments on top of the glass cabins displayed how extraordinary they were. All of them had vitality stats of 3.0. They were tall, muscular and filled with strength, resembling the incarnations of divinities of the Greek legends.
If it was one or two, it was still fine. But there were over thousands to tens of thousands of clones here, as many people as there would be in an army. If they were revealed to the public, this would simply be a calamity.
These were his thoughts of these clones being test subjects, but the instant such thoughts flitted across Feng Lin's mind, he instantly marked an 'x' and shook his head.
Also, given how high the vitality stats of these clones were, it was clear that they were genetically modified and that it took large capital to create even a single one of them. It was impossible for them to be a 'one-time usage' human test subject.
There was only one possibility remaining!
An army of clones!
Feng Lin recalled what Luke had said in the past. But Luke didn't manage to guess the answer completely.
It was true that the Giant Pharmaceutical Company was building an army; however, what they were building wasn't an ordinary army. Their true objective was producing clones, eventually forming an army of clones.
These clones who had a vitality stat of 3.0 were thirty times stronger than ordinary humans who only had a vitality stats of 0.1. Once enough of this clones was produced and an army was formed, they definitely wouldn't be considered a weakling in this entire solar system.
This was different from the genetic artificially-created army of interstellar cultivators mentioned by Luke. Although these clones had fearsome vitality stats, they were still considered cultivation apprentices at most and had yet to reach the level of genetic cultivators. They could not be considered a genetic army.
But even so, it was already terrifying enough.
Forbidding clones was an interstellar convention agreed by all humans in the Interstellar Era. Not only must those Supreme Interstellar Empires obey this, but even those chaotic little countries and Chaotic Star Regions had to obey as well.
Because once clones began to be produced uncheck, it might violate the tenets of humanity and caused the genes of humanity to be weakened and in disorder. After a long time, purebred humans might face the danger of extinction. Hence, for the sake of humanity's future and to avoid all potential damage this would have caused, the Interstellar Era humans all came to an agreement to form this interstellar convention.
If a country was to secretly produce clones, once this fact was known, that country would immediately become the public enemy of all of humanity. Despite how vast the galaxy was, there would be no place for them to establish themselves in.
...
Feng Lin's heart was filled with shock. He didn't expect the guts of the Giant Pharmaceutical Company to be this big. They actually defied the interstellar convention. What are they planning to do exactly?
The waves in his heart turned to an ocean, yet his expression was still as calm as ever, not revealing the slightest inkling of what he was thinking about.
At this moment, Frank walked over and spoke in a tone of consideration. ”Seems like you can already tell that these are clones. Do you know what they are going to be used for?”
”Are they going to be used for experiments?” Feng Lin hesitated for a moment before he spoke. He understood the value of pretending to be foolish at times.
”You are still too young!” Frank laughed. ”Clones are genetically engineered beings. From the time they were fertilized, genetic modifications are already made. They have long lost the pureness of their original genes. If you wish to do experiments, the effects of using ordinary humans that have not undergone any genetic modifications to their genes would undoubtedly be better choices. Since you are now already a core member of our Giant Pharmaceutical Company, there's no need to hide things from you. In any case, you would know about this sooner or later. I will tell you the truth now. All you see here are going to become our army!”
”An army of clones?!” Feng Lin acted like he had just discovered this and shouted in agitation. After that, he seemed to have suddenly thought of something. ”But aren't clones forbidden by the interstellar convention? If we do this and even assemble them into an army, wouldn't we be condemned by all humans of the Interstellar Era?”
He pretended to be a newbie who didn't know anything and had a face filled with the expressions of shock and amazement.
Frank nodded. He was very satisfied with Feng Lin's reactions. He then spoke in a casual tone, ”Things such as laws are merely made for ordinary people to see. Although clones are forbidden, in truth, all the big financial groups in the galaxy are secretly producing them. As to why we are forming an army, it is because the solar system is considered a Chaotic Star Region. Our Giant Pharmaceutical Company is a big business, and this is why we need a powerful army to protect our safety!”
Is he trying to fool a child?
Feng Lin laughed coldly in his heart, but a serious look was on his face as he nodded heavily in understanding.
From the start until now, Frank still didn't discover any flaws in Feng Lin's expression. Only then did he finally let the last bit of wariness in his heart fade away.
”But does this have something to do with my research topic?” Feng Lin asked in a puzzled tone.
Frank smiled mysteriously, ”Come with me!”
Feng Lin followed behind Frank and walked among these clones.
Class cabins were everywhere, resembling pillars that stood erect. The clones in them seemed like guards, and the atmosphere had an eerie feeling to it.
After moving into the depths, Feng Lin quickly discovered a group of white-robed figures moving around the clones as they paid close observation to them, recording notes every now and then as though they were analyzing something.
Feng Lin silently pondered. It seemed like his earlier speculations were right. This place was an underground laboratory.
But what made him feel strange was that the researchers here all had blonde hair and blue eyes. They were all purebred caucasians.
When was it that the Giant Pharmaceutical Company only recruited people from the White Race?
Feng Lin felt extremely puzzled, but he didn't dare to ask such a question and could only bury his curiosity in his heart.
”Feng Lin, in the future, these are all going to be your taskforce members!” Frank pointed to the caucasians as he introduced.
