105 A Kiss Worth Remembering (1/2)
Jaeun didn't know what took over her. For some reason she had to interrupt their conversation. She knew that the punishments would be laid down, yet her mind acted differently.
Everything piled up in her body had exploded at that moment.
After her brother left the gala with their family driver, she had to stay for the last dance. By using this opportunity, she needed to find potential marriage prospects. Since she was in her last year of university, time was ticking for her. As the Moon family was old school, it was expected that she found someone soon to get married in her mid to late twenties.
However, due to her brother's insane episode during the auction, the heavy feeling in her chest would not disappear. Almost like a knife stabbing her chest. It was clear that Yoona had set him up for this failure. Her blood boiled. Sure, Jaemin was a f.u.c.king a.s.shole but he was from the Moon group. Putting down their family meant messing with her.
Why was he in love with her in the first place? Like every f.u.c.king single guy. Jaeun knew the answer but didn't want to admit to it for that would ruin her pride. As 'best friends' for years, she couldn't deny the traits that made Yoona likable. If it was not for their twisted fate, perhaps they could've been friends.
However, it was like Jihee transmigrated into another person, torturing her for her sins. Even without trying, Yoona was ruining her life.
”Ah Ms. Jaeun Moon, you look absolutely stunning tonight.”
She turned her head to see Song Woobin standing handsomely in his suit. Since he was also part of the big four, she knew him pretty well. He was one of the men her family approved of. Although the rumors of his playboy antics were well-known, his status and looks were top-tier.
Before, she had believed he was the perfect man, but after seeing the way Minhyun treated Yoona, she had second thoughts. Would a man like Woobin ever settle down and love her in the same way?
Jealousy riled up in her chest. At the bottom of her heart, she knew that he would never see her as an equal. He saw women as toys, just like the rest of the men in this room.
”Thank you Woobin,” she gently said. ”You look very handsome as well. The suit fits you perfectly.”
”Custom made,” he bragged. ”It's a special outfit only for the gala.”
”Of course. I only expect the best from a man like you.” She giggled before cutely c.o.c.king her head. ”By the way, do you need anything from me?”
He nodded and bowed. ”A dance from the beautiful lady.”
”I accept.”
To be the first person asked by Song Woobin to dance. It felt quite nice. She could feel some girl's hearts break from the action.
Jaeun smirked. Be jealous.
This was how she should be treated. This was how life should be for a Moon member.
Jaeun confidently walked to the dance floor with her partner by her side. She was finally going to use her dancing skills for proper use. Everyone was going to be impressed and she would take back her spotlight.
With Woobin's hand on her waist, a bit too low for her liking and his hand clasped onto hers, they spun around effortlessly. Due to their elegance, everyone watching was in awe by their talent.
Finally. She was having her spotlight. This was what she deserved. The reason to why she was born was to be loved.
However, her happiness did not last long. From the corner of her eyes, she could see Woobin glancing elsewhere. Why was his attention on someone else other than her? She was supposed to be his partner. Plus, as a beauty, he should be fully dedicated to her at this point, especially after seeing her talents.
When Jaeun followed his gaze, her smile dropped.
Out of all the girls in the room, why did he have to be staring at Yoona? She grit her teeth and every bit of anger erupted in her chest.
”Ouch! What the f.u.c.k?” Woobin let go and shook his hand. He sent her a glare. ”Why are crus.h.i.+ng my fingers?”
”Ah,” Jaeun replied nervously. f.u.c.k. She messed up. She couldn't let Woobin see her anger. ”I-I'm sorry. I didn't realize...”
He rolled his eyes. ”You should be more careful. As someone who's only life purpose is to get married, at least try not to make such amateur mistakes. If you were like Chae Minhyun's date i'd understand but as a member of the high-cla.s.s you should've known better.”
Again. Why was he bringing up Yoona? Would that girl ever disappear? She would be better off dead at this point.
Jaeun tried not to grit her teeth. A bitter laugh escaped her lips. ”I apologize.”
He glanced down, grazing his vision near her cleavage. ”Since you're pretty you're forgiven.”
