39 Chapter 39: The Demons Plan (2/2)

They both gave nods of approval, and they were all soon on their way.

In a clearing of the forest, there were many tents, with demons in them, but since the most demons were out in the forest, there was not a huge number at the base.

Surrounding this base was Ned and the other units.

They were going to bombard the tents using magic first, to cut their numbers.

Ned was going to attack with magic too.

Now stationed among the mages, he was saying the chant like the rest mages for the sake of bulls.h.i.+tting.

Once done the magic was launched at the demons at a fast speed, head among the magic was a huge eastern fire dragon released by Lucy, and Ned's own fire dragon that was much bigger than Lucy's. Something she wasn't surprised at as she already knew he was a twin path, and a stronger mage than her.

They both released it at the biggest tent in the base.

Once all the magic died down, all the surviving demons got out from their tents, and looked for their surviving people.

Ned and Lucy, saw from the biggest tent, a demon that was injured, taking out three corpses of demons, who had been burned alive.

His eyes were bloodshot, and he was looking around for the attacker. Once he was attacked he knew someone had betrayed them, and told the place of the camp to their enemies.

He saw Ned and Lucy side by side, and knew they were the ones responsible for the attack, and so he simply vanished from his place only to appear in front of Lucy who was panting a bit from the huge magic she used.

Her eyes widened slowly at the impending doom closing in on her, only to relax when Ned unsheathed his sword and met the demon's claws.

”Ahhhh you killed my brothers, I will tear you apart and feed you to the mutts” the demon said yelling at Ned while once again swinging his claws.

Ned from the first exchange, knew that this demon was a rank 5. And so he turned to Lucy and said.

”This demon is a rank 5, just leave him to me, and go join the rest” and Lucy had already guessed that he was a rank 5 and she was preparing to help him, but she did as he said and joined her people.

The demon was at first not sure that he can take them both, but he grinned maliciously once Lucy was gone. ”You humans always know how to dig your own grave”

Ned changed his hands into fire element under his gauntlet, and set his sword ablaze.

He stepped to the back creating some s.p.a.ce, and stared at the demon.

The demon jumped at Ned, and this was what Ned was waiting for, to be able to control the pace of the fight. He didn't want to show his trump card so soon.

He ducked under the slash, and sent his own attack, leaving a cut on the arm of the demon, who didn't care a bit and kept attacking.

And so they traded blow for blow with the demon attacking madly and Ned dodging with ease.

From the side Lucy from time to time cast a worried look at Ned.

But Ned didn't notice as he was focused on laying a trap for the demon.

Once Ned had made enough cuts on the him, and the demon was starting to get frustrated, Ned knew that the time has come, so he changed his hands into earth element, and coted his katana with wind mana and jumped at the demon using his movement technique.

The demon was ready to block any attack coming at him, but to his dismay, suddenly several earthen spikes emerged from the ground aiming at him, he dodged the most, but one still injured his right thigh.

Once he dodged the rest he found Ned swinging his katana in front of him, and he had no time to block it.

”Swish”

And so his head was separated from his body with his eyes containing a look of shock.
