Chapter 57

Yan Liang rushed to the police station. Zhou Shu was anxiously pacing the corridor, looking at the entrance and at the interrogation room frequently. When Yan Liang saw him, she felt a sense of inalienable sadness flood her.

Hearing her footsteps, Zhou Shu turned back. His eyes glimmered with hope as if a small boat had finally found shelter in the stormy seas.

But Yan Liang felt more and more shameful when faced with his hopeful eyes, how could she possibly help in this situation ?

Zhou Cheng’s position was compromised by her and Xu Ziqing.

She tried hard to hide all her emotions. She went forward and sat down on the bench next to Zhou Shu.

As they sat silently, time flew by. Yan Liang mentioned a few times, “ If you want to go back, I am here waiting for Zhou Cheng.”

But Zhou Shu just waved his hands and refused the offer.

Though Yan Liang kept Zhou Shu company, she herself had not rested for even a moment. She tried to send someone to contact the Johnny Weir side, but apart from her and Zhou Cheng, no one else was familiar with the situation.

And Zhou Cheng was under trial , until now he had not emerged from the interrogation room. Without them noticing, the outside day gradually turned brighter. It was past 7 in the morning.

She wanted to fly to New York, but in less than two hours the stock market would open.

By her side, Zhou Shu’s eyes were bloodshot, either because he was worried or because he had not slept at all the whole night.

Yan Liang was really worried about him.” If you don’t return the whole night, Aunt will be aware of the situation. She will certainly worry.Please go back.”

Ignoring Zhou Shu’s reluctance, Yan Liang called the driver to come to the police station. Soon the driver arrived. After hesitating a moment , Zhou Shu decided to leave for the time being.

His wife was in poor health. She could easily become anxious if she learned about what had transpired during the night. Zhou Shu was here without the knowledge of his wife, now he worried that the secret may get exposed if he didn’t get back.

He did not forget to remind Yan Liang, “ Please call me when he comes out.”

Around eight , the door of the interrogation room was finally opened. Yan Liang interrupted her conversation and immediately rushed forward. But it wasn’t Zhou Cheng who came out of the room

Yan Liang was shocked to see Xu Ziqing. She heard the police tell her, “ Miss Xu, we may call you back for further questioning if necessary.”

Xu Ziqing’s face showed unhappiness, she tried to say something when she glanced around and suddenly saw Yan Liang

She was stunned for a moment then hurried away from the room. Once the door was closed, there were only two women in the corridor. With a stiff smile and cold eyes Xu Ziqing said, “ Yan Liang..long time no see.”

Yan Liang was equally astonished and said, “ Weren’t you supposed to accompany your mother abroad for treatment ?”

Xu Ziqing’s expression twisted a bit, then she shrugged noncommittally and looked at the interrogation room coldly, “Zhou Cheng should be coming out as well..”

Yan Liang did not say anything

The disdain in her eyes were like knives scrapping Xu Ziqing’s skin. It poked her sense of guilt and she felt wronged. “ Jiang Shi Jun is the culprit in this whole mess. If I continued to oppose him, I would still not be able to save Xu. On the contrary, I would die a worse death. Every man for himself , you cannot blame me!”

Every man for himself..

How was this a genuine reason to shift the blame..

If Xu Ziqing had any remorse, this would not be in line with her innate character. Trying to reason with such people would be useless. The only thing Yan Liang could do now was to fight on behalf of Zhou Cheng, “ Xu Ziqing, I can only say that Zhou Cheng has done so much for you, if you dare let him down, I will not spare you.”

Even if she hated her, she had no way to get back at her enemy. Yan Liang knew that her threat was weak, she was helpless. Xu Ziqing also tried to avoid the topic.

She suddenly tried to persuade Yan Liang, “ I had been out of the country. But my agent suddenly informed me that he needed me here for some real estate issue. I came back secretly but the minute I was back, the police was at my door. This must be Jiang Shi Jun’s doing, he is too ruthless, too clever. You can’t fight him, before you lose the game, you should quickly vanish.”

Xu Ziqing changed the topic so quickly, Yan Liang wondered what her attitude was on the issue of Zhou Cheng.

Yan Liang said nothing. She had nothing left, what would she fear ?

But an inadvertent phrase from Xu Ziqing immediately poked her,” That Jiang Yu Nan… Yan Liang, I would advise you to stay away from him as well.”

“……” “…”

“Unless you intend to fight till death, you will never win. If I were in your place, I would rather be bankrupt then sleep in the same bed as my enemy while both of us plotted ways to murder the other.”
