Chapter 1 (1/2)

Immortal Pilgrimage Action 55780K 2022-07-22

Within the darkness, there was a beam of light.

It was white in color and it appeared very gentle.

This beam seemed to have come from the sky as it s.h.i.+ned towards the boundless desert.

And with it, one could see  that this part of the desert was filled with a hazy substance–air filled with death qi! It had a kind of richness which even the naked eyes could discern.

Hūchī!

Wherever that light pa.s.sed, a series of sharp piercing sounds stirred, and the air that was rich in death qi dispersed.

Pā!

Suddenly, a light sound sounded from within that boundless desert.

It could be seen that after that beam of white light touched the ground, it chose not to stay for too long but to directly pa.s.s through the surface and enter the solid ground.

……

Someplace above the seemingly bottomless abyss, a greyish-white coc.o.o.n was buried. Within the coc.o.o.n was a faintly discernible silhouette.

Wēng!

When the beam of white light shot into this coc.o.o.n, a series of humming resonances sounded out.

In the next second, the coc.o.o.n suddenly jolted.

Lying within was a pretty handsome youth who looked to be around 15 to 16, but his complexion unexpectedly appeared to be deathly pale.

At this moment, the youth suddenly opened his eyes.

Wēng!

Two strange and enchanting red streaks of light swept past his eyes in a flash. As his eyes opened, his complexion began to turn rosy. At least it was no longer the horrifyingly deathly pale complexion from before.

The boy's name was Su Yu. (added by reviewer)

As Su Yu opened his eyes, his eyeb.a.l.l.s slightly moved and shortly afterward, a confused expression emerged on his face.

“I…Where am I?”

Su Yu’s throat issued out a light sound as he asked himself. With the aid of the pale, green light, Su Yu was able to clearly see that he was surrounded by thick rock walls. Looking at the structure of the rock wall and relying on his many years of archaeology experience, he knew that he should currently be somewhere underground.

Hōng!

Just after Su Yu had voiced this thought to himself, a burst of a violent pop resounded by his ears. Afterward, he could feel that the coc.o.o.n he was currently in was being rapidly pulled by a mysterious force.

When Su Yu came to his senses, he had already appeared in the desert where everywhere was filled with the hazy substance. He looked at the abyss that was behind him. It looked eerie, and he could almost hear an creepy laughter from within. He shuddered. Soon after, he had a confused look on his face.

So, where was he now?

Could it be that he was now not at one of the excavation sites of a tomb? He clearly remembered that a second ago, he was with his colleagues, and they were excavating a tomb from an unknown period. Just after they had entered the tomb, what caught their eyes was a cauldron, and below it were numerous skulls that were uncountable with just their naked eyes. As for those skulls, they were positioned in a pattern which seemed to resemble the Nine Palaces Eight Trigrams from the Book of Changes. That being the case, it appeared to have mixed in with the other doors.

At that time, his eyes revealed his excitement upon witnessing this scene. Shortly afterwards, his gaze once again landed on the giant bronze cauldron.

It was a three-legged bronze cauldron around 10 feet tall, and on its body was an engraving of mysterious texts and lines. Regarding those texts, even he who was born in a family with an archaeological background could not understand them.

He also didn't know whether at that time, it was his head that became feverish or something else, but he unexpectedly disregarded his colleagues’ opposition and directly climbed into the giant bronze cauldron. After entering, his vision turned black. Following that, he then appeared in this strange and unfamiliar place.

“I’m really seeking my own death ah!” Su Yu severely scolded himself in his heart.

“Ah!”

It was at this moment that Su Yu suddenly felt a slight pain in his chest as if a blazing flame was burning his skin. In the next second, he tore the part of the s.h.i.+rt which covered his chest area. After tearing it, he saw a picture on his chest. Su Yu was momentarily petrified.

It was that cauldron! That giant bronze cauldron!

Currently, on Su Yu's chest was a picture of a cauldron, and this cauldron was exactly the same as the one he had seen in the tomb. The most crucial point was that the picture was extremely clear. Even the texts and lines on the body of the cauldron were so vivid that Su Yu was able to discern them.

This scene further caused the current Su Yu to nearly collapse! That cauldron, why did it appear on his chest?

Confused. At the moment, what Su Yu felt other than confusion was more confusion. He looked around and his heart was lonely. At present, he did not know where he was, so he could only walk forward aimlessly.

Hence like this, Su Yu did not know how long he had walked in this desert. While walking, he suddenly noticed that the hazy substance in his surroundings began to thin down.

Suddenly, Su Yu heard a burst of deafening explosions.

On the next second, the scene that appeared in front of him caused him to be utterly shocked.

In the sky were two figures stepping on the air—they were fighting intensely.

One of them was a man in green clothing. He was holding a 7-foot long sword and was flying at high speed! The other was an old man in black clothing. He was holding a paper umbrella that was pitch black like the color of ink and was walking step by step in mid-air!

The man in green clothing would often wave his sword, and 1,000 to 10,000 streaks of s.h.i.+ning sword light would shoot out from around his body. Also at the same time, numerous swift and fierce sword qis revolved around the man near his heart!

On the other side, the old man in black clothing rotated his black paper umbrella, rotating it non-stop. As for the black paper umbrella, while it was being spun, from within it, black evil spirits permeated out. It was as if they had come from the netherworld as the howls and screams of those unrested ghosts could be heard!

However, from what he could see, the man in green clothing clearly had the upper hand, and the old man in black clothing could only defend.
