Chapter 86: Protect (2/2)

Thud thud thud!

However, the kill came at the price of three arrows to the chest. I had a total of 1270 HP, and that attack just took over 500 HP! Their damage is way too close for comfort!

Seeing that Dominating Mage G.o.d was casting Fire Dragon Roar, I chugged a health potion and thrusted my sword at his chest before he had the chance to finish the chant. An icy spear piercing his body, he slumped to the ground, the third time Dominating Mage G.o.d succ.u.mbed to my Ice Ray!

Level 50 skills are just f.u.c.king insane! Coupled with the Ghost Ice Soul, they crushed these Level 40 players like they were nothing but ants!

I prayed that I wouldn't lose the Ghost Ice Soul if they managed to kill me. It would pain me for months if that was the case! Moreover, as long as the Ghost Ice Soul wasn't lost, I could keep one-shotting them even if I fell to Level 40.

In a deadly dance of swordplay I hacked down one enemy after another. My HP was falling rapidly and I had to drink HP potions and rely on Regeneration of the Undead, Earth Escape and a variety of techniques to stay alive as long as possible. Unfortunately, I died when there were still 3 enemies left. Turning around I could see He Yi collapsing to the ground. At her level, there was just no surviving an attack from a Level 42 mage.

My soul revived at the graveyard again, and I rushed to the forest like a madman. The second I reached my body, I came back to life and killed the three campers with a Slayer Slash, an Ice Ray and a basic attack. After that, I downed HP pot, returned to full health and waited for the Domination Clan to revive once more.

By now, the ground of this part of the forest was completely drenched in blood. Stepping on top of Dominating Knight G.o.d's dead body and gripping the Ghost Ice Soul, I looked down on the world like a proud devil.

Behind me, a beautiful figure came back to life once more. He Yi stared blankly at my back while muttering, ”It has to be him… it has to be…”

Murong Mingyue also came back to life at the same time and whispered to her, ”Eve, what are you talking about?”

On the verge of tears, He Yi pointed at me and cried out, ”He's Lu Chen, he has to be Lu Chen… I… I can feel it. He's the only one in this world who can…”

He Yi ran up to me and cried loudly, ”Lu Chen, why are you avoiding me? Why? Do you have any idea how… how…”

Bitterness and pain filled my heart completely. Should I tell He Yi my true ident.i.ty?

But I recalled the discoloration of my skin and that shocking virus report. Could I really stay by her side like I used to? Nothing was the same as it had been before. The darkness had become my only refuge. Even a ray of sunlight was enough to make me s.h.i.+ver with pain.

I turned around and employed the hoa.r.s.e voice of a Night Creature. ”Beauty, you got the wrong person. I'm not… Lu Chen, whoever that is.”

”No, you have to be him!”

He Yi stared deeply at me. Her eyes were covered in tears, and her b.r.e.a.s.t.s were bouncing constantly because of how emotional she was. She looked incredibly beautiful even though her metal armor was in tatters.

I sighed. ”Leave quickly. I already told you that I'm not the person you're looking for.”

I abruptly unveiled my cloak and revealed to her my horrifying face.

”Ah?!”

He Yi took two steps backward in shock. Still in tears, she shook her head and murmured, ”How can this be… how can this be…”

Murong Mingyue walked up to He Yi and supported her. Then, she looked at me and snorted. ”b.a.s.t.a.r.d, what are you scaring Eve for?”

I said seriously, ”Cut the nonsense and use the return scroll now before the Domination Clan revives!”

Murong Mingyue took out a return scroll and pa.s.sed it to He Yi, but He Yi simply stared at me blankly like it was the only thing she knew how to do. Her face was completely covered in tears.

Swhoos.h.!.+

A streak of red light cut through He Yi. She collapsed slowly to the ground as the return scroll fell from her body. It was a hostile a.s.sa.s.sin.

Absolutely furious, I charged forward and sent the a.s.sa.s.sin's head flying.

All around me, the Domination Clan came to life once more.

Eventually, Xu Yang died, and so did Murong Mingyue.

Thus, I fought alone, and died once again. I revived and killed them all, only to be overwhelmed by their ma.s.s resp.a.w.n not long after.

Three hours pa.s.sed by in the blink of an eye. It was now past 10 am in the morning, and I had dropped all the way to Level 45. At this point, I was breathing quite heavily even though I was still gripping the Ghost Ice Soul. I had lost Soul Turmoil Armor and Beast-faced Turmoil Helmet twice in a row, but I was always able to kill Dominating Knight G.o.d and reclaim my equipment. Therefore, the only real loss I suffered was 5 levels.

The Domination Clan fared much worse compared to me. Dominating Knight G.o.d, Dominating Mage G.o.d, and Dominating Arrow G.o.d had all lost at least 10 levels on average, and they were completely out of Floating Ice City's Heavenly Ranking. The rest of the players had also lost countless levels by my hand.

Most of the players mentally collapsed and completely logged out near the end of the battle. They had never seen such a bitter battle in their whole lives, and to say that I fought with no regard for my life at all would be a ma.s.sive understatement. Although Dominating Knight G.o.d and his brothers were just as crazed as I was, it didn't change the fact that I had somehow managed to camp their bodies—all twenty or so top-tier pros of the Domination Clan—by myself, for an entire in-game night!

At 10:20 am, Gui Guzi and Du Thirteen finally showed up at Silver Moon Valley and came to my aid. When Gui Guzi took out Dominating Arrow G.o.d with his Death Combo and saw me, his eyes actually turned watery. It was because I was climbing out of a pile of corpses while looking the sorriest I had ever been since I entered Heavenblessed. He asked, ”Brother, you… did you have to do this?”

I gave him a small smile and kept my silence.

A few minutes later, another beautiful figure appeared from Silver Moon Forest. Lin Yixin had come online to help me with a couple dozens of Snowy Cathaya players.

I was completely drenched in blood, red droplets dribbling off my Gold-grade sword. My equipment was in complete tatters, and I stood on top of a pile of corpses looking like I would keel over and die at any moment. Lin Yixin stared at me with shock and admiration before she walked up to me and supported my shoulder. ”Have… have you gone crazy? It's too early in the morning for something this big. What drove you to do something like this?”

I shot her a tired smile and turned to look at He Yi's body behind me.

Lin Yixin was an intelligent woman. She quickly figured out parts of the truth and said, ”Is… is she the guild leader of Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls? Is she the reason you aren't willing to join the Snowy Cathaya?”

I nodded before whispering, ”I'm exhausted. See you later…”

I took out a return scroll and teleported back to Floating Ice City. Now that Gui Guzi, Du Thirteen, Lin Yixin and Snowy Cathaya had arrived, He Yi, Murong Mingyue, and Xu Yang were finally safe. I supposed I barely completed my mission.

I dared not, and wouldn't, face He Yi again. The crus.h.i.+ng look in her eyes made me feel worse than anything that had happened to my own person.

……

”Phew!”

I took off my helmet and felt tired enough to pa.s.s out on the spot. I took a bath, ate a small meal, and went straight to bed.
