Chapter 103 (1/2)
Huang Jindi's condition hadn't improved much, although the amount of medicine he took had been increasing. There were only several doctors and nurses by his grandfather's side when Huang Xuan visited him again, making him look very lonely, in contrast to his old days.
Huang Jindi had been in a coma, lying on the white sheet, with pipes all over his body. The doctor hadn't been able to draw a conclusion, but to the eyes of the other members of the family, the glorious days of the third branch of the clan were about to end.
Huang Xuan sat by his grandfather's side. Rolin had stored sufficient energy within the last two weeks. The medicine Prolong 4N wasn't taken orally, but Huang Xuan had to be around when it was activated.
In the following few days, Huang Xuan slept in the ward. Zhang Xinyi was glad to see her son doing his filial duty.
Only Huang Xuan knew that his grandfather was going to recover. Three days later, the 18th pill was activated.
”The potency of the pill will be totally released in two more weeks,” Rolin said quietly.
”It seems nothing is happening now.” Huang Xuan was worried.
”He is recovering gradually. If the process is too sudden, his body won't be able to take it.”
Huang Xuan wasn't sure whether Rolin's words made sense or not. He asked, ”Can he walk in two weeks?”
”No problem. He should be much better by then.”
”Good.” Huang Xuan grabbed the sheet, as if he was praying.
”Something happened two days ago. Considering your mood, I didn't tell you,” Rolin said after a while.
”What?” Huang Xuan knew that although Rolin had given him a lot of help, the two were still separate individuals who help each other, have mutual benefits and are in close contact with each other. Rolin had always been intense about planes and the travelers. Most of the base's energy had been spent watching the pa.s.sage.
”Gay is dead.”
Huang Xuan sat up instantly. ”How?” he asked in a strange tone.
”He attempted to spread some kind of theory in prison and connect with the outside world through the TV of the canteen. He even tried to escape by bombarding the prison with a bomb he had made from food and almost succeeded. The bomb wasn't powerful enough because of the expired soda.”
”Then?”
”Just in case, I enlarged the explosion range and a small nail pierced into his head.”
Huang Xuan was quiet. It seemed that this would be a matter keeping his younger uncle busy.
”I frisked him carefully and found a new authority code in his head.”
”Another authority code? What can it do?”
”Nothing special. It is just an 18th-level creature code, but you might be interested in the information stored in it.”
”What information?”
”The detailed information on the 20th-level base and a little information on planes. Our base will be able to upgrade again with enough energy.”
”Define enough.” Huang Xuan mocked, rubbing his nose.
”500 million units, 1.2 million units per day.”
Huang Xuan clicked his tongue in shock. The cost of electricity was three cents RMB per unit or so excluding the administration expenses and transportation and sales costs. The cost of 500 million units would be 150 million RMB. In addition to the 400,000 RMB per day, the cost would be as high as the consumption of a small military zone.
Rolin didn't push anymore, as if he was certain he would get a positive answer. It was true. Rolin had treated him differently because of his authority. Rolin had threatened to kill him when he hadn't had any authority and that had never happened ever since Huang Xuan had got his authority. Moreover, Rolin had simply denied him nothing except breaking the priority order. To Huang Xuan's knowledge, the only way to elevate his own authority was to help Rolin when he needed to upgrade the base. To Huang Xuan, getting close to the base with money was so easy.
”One more thing. The energy in the buffer zone has been decreasing due to Gay's attack. At the current rate, the energy will be in a dangerous zone in two months.”
”What does it mean?” Huang Xuan sensed something ominous.
”We have to increase the buffer zone energy. Otherwise, the plane will be in danger next time when travelers intrude.”
”I knew it,” Huang Xuan muttered. He had been used to the life of traveling between planes, although he was still afraid of risks, which turned out to be small. Huang Xuan was like a cheating student, who sweated a lot before cheating, but would ignore the consequence after several successes, although it was very serious.
