17 A Familiar Figure (1/2)
As they left the cave and stepped back onto the platform, it started moving back down towards the cave exit. Whilst they were standing on it, the hundreds of monkeys all cried out once more before disappearing slowly in large groups leaving behind just the treetops whilst clouds began covering the entire room

Rumble* Rumble*
Walking back through the cave once again, the two boys noticed the drawings on the cave walls were slightly different to the first time they passed by. The once white drawings that appeared to be like chalk or paint are now slightly golden whilst purple colored clouds covered some of the drawings throughout the cave giving it a cloudy feel
Step* Step*
As they leave the cave and take a step outside, the cave entrance is blocked off automatically
Rumble* Rumble*
As if the cave were trying to hide itself, the purple mist started filling up the space around them whilst the floating islands and waterfalls slowly disappeared into the blue skies. Leaving the strange place, the boys called out their monsters and took flight as they watched the island disappear from their sight

”Boss, there's still a while left, should we head back now?” Wang Tao asked
”...”
After pondering for a brief moment, Ye Qin replied ”No, let's keep searching for monsters and get stronger before we return. I want us to take the top two places in the exam.”
Wang Tao looked off into the distance as he said softly ”The top huh, of course, a small place as this cannot contain us for long. Only when we show the world what we are made of are we truly men.”
The two then flew off far away from the Monkey King's island as they searched far and wide throughout a 20-kilometer distance

Spending two weeks flying throughout the Abandoned Lands, Ye Qin and Wang Tao managed to gather a majority of the required items to evolve and upgrade all of the former's monsters. Though they spent a while, the boys didn't manage to find any materials required to increase the grade of Ye Qin's dragons to the [Rare] grade
Not only this, Ye Qin's twin dragons managed to reach level 19 and the Monkey King reached level 12 whilst Wang Tao's Blackgold Python Tiger reached level 22. With this, the boys were almost certain they could take the top two places whilst Wang Tao also managed to learn the necessary knowledge to easily score full marks in the written exam
Now, with just over a week left, the two boys spent it trying to search for evolution materials that aren't for themselves, but rather to sell and increase their budget for the future. Over the few weeks, the 7 mysterious orbs showed no reaction whatsoever even when the two spent some time studying them every day
Ye Qin and Wang Tao spent the remaining few days making a return journey and got a bit of XP and materials on the way back. However, they didn't think a monster even stronger than the Blazing Elephant would appear in such a weak region

Off in the distance, a huge treant monster ravaged throughout the lands creating a path of destruction and waste whenever it went. Ye Qin scanned it and couldn't help to exclaim in shock seeing its overwhelming stats
