Chapter 20: Suffering Of The Heart
Housekeeper Liu suddenly burst into tears as he cried out, “Young master, it’s not that I don’t want to tell you. My family and my life are held within that Miss Xia’s hand.” Everyone present was startled. As if he had already guessed it, Lu Feng smiled confidently, “Everyone in the Bai family thinks you have ability. The head also trusts you very much thus giving you power, How did this happen.”
Hearing Lu Feng’s words, Housekeeper Liu abruptly kowtowed on the floor, “please don’t tell the Head and the rest. They will definitely kick me out, if I disobey she won’t give my family and I the antidote. If I die it’s fine, but what about my family.”
Saying this, Housekeeper Liu did not have his previous arrogant att.i.tude he was more like a lonely old man. Fang Long and the rest were criticizing Housekeeper Liu, Fang Long even said “Young Master, don’t trust him. What if he is lying, I suggest we quickly go and tell the head. If not he might leak out the Bai family’s financial information.”
Lu Feng continued asking, “Shopkeeper Fang, the Bai family is so big but does he really manage everything?” Fang Long made an En sound, “Every month we report to him our situation. Then he would give us an accounting.”
Housekeeper Liu was trembling from the start, he didn’t dare to utter a single word. Lu Feng looked at his pitiful condition and smiled, “Please get up.” Housekeeper Liu thought he heard wrongly, he didn’t reply while Lu Feng continued, “It’s fine, stop looking at me like that. I won’t expose you.”
Fang Long and the others naturally did not understand, Fang Long opened his mouth and asked, “Young Master, why would you do this.” Housekeeper Liu also could not comprehend what Lu Feng was thinking. Anyone in this situation would not tolerate someone who was colluding with outsiders, especially someone as threatening as Housekeeper Liu.
But Lu Feng just maintained a calm smile, “I understand your feelings toward the Bai family, but you were being held hostage by the Xia family for a long time to stealthily give them financial reports. Am I right.”
Housekeeper Liu fervently nodded his head, “Yes, the ancestors have declared that we can’t collude against the Bai family, that is why I don’t dare to break that rule.” However Fang Long was not satisfied, “Did you really not break it?”
Housekeeper Liu made an En sound followed by saying, “I’ve never told them anything. The most is trying to frame Young Master but at that time Young master hadn’t gotten his status and wasn’t apart of the Bai family. Which is why I had never went against that rule.” Lu Feng suddenly laughed out loud.
Scaring housekeeper Liu into kneeling again, but Lu Feng grabbed him as he continued laughing, “If you don’t want your family to come to harm, then you need to listen to what I say.” Housekeeper Liu had a hopeful expression as he looked at Lu Feng, “Young Master, you have a way of saving my family?”
Lu Feng naturally did not have a plan yet, he was not that formidable. But he still asked, “Do you know what poison have you ingested?” Housekeeper Liu furiously explained, “Mysterious Lunar Powder, is a type of poison that flares up every month and causes the person to go crazy. Only with the antidote then it can be temporarily stopped, that’s why every month I have to go to the Xia family to collect the antidote.”
Fang Long and the rest were shocked, Lu Feng said in surprise, “When did this Miss Xia gain such a magical poison.” Housekeeper Liu sighed, “It’s because Miss Xia has an older brother which is in a poison sect, the poison sect’s members know how to create this poison and its antidote. So all they had to do was take a bit and threaten us to death.”
Lu Feng was even more confused as he carefully asked, “Since her brother is so formidable then why hasn’t he help out the Tian and Xia family. Instead, putting them into so much trouble when they can obtain the number one seat in Qinglong town.”
When everyone heard this, they had a weird expression as they looked at Lu Feng. It was the same look one would to a fool. He immediately asked, “What’s wrong?” Housekeeper Liu awkwardly replied, “Young Master, do you not know what is the Heavenly Decree?”
Lu Feng dubiously asked, “Heavenly Decree? What does that mean?” Seeing that Lu Feng really did not know, Housekeeper Liu explained, “In the mainland, theres a place which is called Heavenly Spirit Gate, this Heavenly Spirit Gate is very mysterious. According to legends, it is the closest place to Immortals.”
