”Why don't you want kids?”

She tensed. He waited for a while but she didn't say anything.

”Tell me, please. I think you would make an excellent mother.”

She choked out a laugh. ”You've known me all of five minutes.”

”It doesn't matter. You are pa.s.sionate and determined. You would protect them like a mother lion would her cubs. You would stand up for them. You are fierce, Julie. Even I am a little afraid of you sometimes.” He smiled. It was true. She could never better him physically but in all other aspects it was game on.

She turned to face him. ”You think I'm fierce and pa.s.sionate?” She smiled. ”Sheesh, you really want to get back into my pants.”

”You're not wearing any. So no, that's not my motive. We are going to rut again.” He grinned at her, knowing it would look feral. He was that aroused by this female. She didn't flinch. He pulled her more firmly against his d.i.c.k. ”We will rut and we will do so often. I'm going to have you in every position imaginable and some that you've never tried. I hope that you will choose to stay here with me but know that if you go...” he paused. ”I will make sure that you are ruined for all other males. You will only crave me.”

”Wow.” She swallowed thickly. ”Arrogant much?” She probably didn't know that she did it, but she glanced at his c.o.c.k before looking back at him.

He nodded. ”Yes, I am. There is no shame in it. A fact is a fact. No one has ever felt as good and I know that it was the same for you.”

She rolled her eyes. ”You've only been with two women so it's not that hard.”

”That's not true.”

She frowned. ”What? I thought Ash and Ruby were the only women in this place.”

”They are the only unmated females in the fire kingdom. I have been with most of the unmated females across the four kingdoms as well as a couple of the older females that lost their mates.”

”So in other words you're a male s.l.u.t.” Her hands had curled into fists and he could scent anger. She was jealous.

He held back a grin. ”I am a male... yes. It was important that I become experienced in the art of lovemaking so that I could give my female pleasure one day... so that I could give you pleasure.” His voice turned husky. It was not to be helped. The thought of her nails digging into him.

”I'm not yours.”

”You are.”

”No.” She shook her head. Her cheeks were still flushed. Her eyes still a tad gla.s.sy. ”I don't need anyone.” He sensed a deep-seated pain. Her eyes clouded.

”Yes, you do.” He touched a few strands of her hair but she moved away.

”No. I don't.” It was half-hearted. She chewed on her lower lip. ”How do you know that humans will even get pregnant? We're very different.”

He felt everything in him tighten as he remembered being inside of her. Deep inside. ”No, we're not.” His voice was a deep vibration. ”We're highly compatible.”

Julie licked her lips. ”Okay, so maybe the s.e.x is good but it doesn't mean that our two species can reproduce. You are technically part reptile.”

”I am part dragon. Reptiles are cold blooded.” He was thrilled at her comment about the s.e.x being good. Even if good wasn't a good enough description.

She nodded and rubbed a hand down his arm. ”You are warm.”

He nodded. ”Two dragons from another kingdom took human females and both have reproduced successfully and numerous times. Human females become stronger once they are mated to a dragon.”

”Oh... so it really is possible.” She frowned, her eyes lifted in thought.

”Yes.” He nodded. Maybe she was thinking about the possibilities, about them being together.

”Don't look at me like that and don't get any ideas.” She shook her head. ”Don't fall for me.”

”Fall?” Why would he fall. He was lying down. Coal frowned.

Julie giggled. ”Fall, as in, fall in love. Don't fall in love with me.”

Coal laughed. ”Oh... love. I've never felt love before. I am not sure I am capable. Dragons do not mate for love. We look for someone we get along well with. Someone who interests us. Someone who is fertile.”

She shook her head like he was nuts. ”If you say so. I might not even be fertile. I've also been told I'm a b.i.t.c.h so there's not much to like.”

”A b.i.t.c.h is a female dog.”

”A b.i.t.c.h is someone who...” She looked like she was in thought ”Stands up for herself, is honest, is outspoken. Someone who generally says it like it is even though feelings might get hurt. I'm not a pushover. Some people don't like that quality in a person.”

”I like you and you interest me. If you are a b.i.t.c.h, then I like b.i.t.c.hes.”

Julie laughed. ”You like b.i.t.c.hes?” She was so beautiful. From her radiant smile to those full cherry lips. Her dark hair was spilled across his pillow. The smell of s.e.x was heavy in the air.

Coal grinned broadly. ”I like you, Julie.”

She licked her lips. ”Back to the fertility part. I might not be... fertile that is.”

”You are.”

”How could you possibly know that?”

”You were carefully selected. We looked for females that needed help but they also had to meet our criteria. A certain age, unmated, no children of their own and... fertile.”

She rolled her eyes. ”And you what? Experimented on me while I was sleeping? How would you know that?”

”Whoever was watching you will have scented it.”

”That's crazy and just a bit creepy.” She pulled a face. ”I was followed?”

”Yes, but it was only to be sure. We needed the arrangement to be mutually beneficial.”

Julie pulled a blanket over herself. Coal gave her some room. He sprawled himself out on the bed. His c.o.c.k was still as hard as it had been before they'd had s.e.x. The guy wasn't lying about going at it all night.

Thank G.o.d he spoke as if this was a business arrangement. It suited her just fine. She'd chill here for a few weeks as promised and then it was back to her old life. This was a retreat. Coal was seriously hot and great in bed. He might want her for a mate and to have his babies but he wouldn't fall in love with her. That meant that he would let her go. He would move on. There were plenty of human women that would give their left arm at a chance at a guy like him.

She felt a pang at the thought. The s.e.x. She would miss the off the charts s.e.x. That was why she felt this way.
