Chapter 15: Secondary Injury

Yunsheng Liang gave Shi Chen a hand to support him, then pulled him down from the ladder in succession, and took away the ladder and left. Chen also wanted to leave, but Qing Bo did not let him. Instead, Bo called Chen over.
Chen sat beside Bo, with his the two of his hands keeping rubbing his knees. Bo asked with a smile, “Nervous?”
“No.” Chen asked in a reply, “Why should I be nervous?”
Amused by Chen, Bo deliberately teased him, “I’ve already known everything.”
Chen’s back stiffened as soon as he heard what Bo had said. Fortunately, he still had his clever minds on duty. “What have you known?”
Bo stopped smiling and fell silent.
Chen glanced secretly at him from the corner of his eyes.
Bo’s legs overlapped and his index finger knocked regularly on the thigh. Men normally brought with themselves that kind of seriousness after being in the upper circle of the society for a long time, especially when they were silent.
Unwilling to confront Bo any longer, Chen stood up with his body stiff, “Then I’ll go upstairs.”
“Why going upstairs?”
“Sleep.”
Chen was walking upstairs while Bo was calling behind him. Chen dared not look back, and he walked very fast. He was sure that Bo wouldn’t be able to catch up due to his injuries. But he forgot that it was his arm instead of his leg that had been injured.
Sensing that Bo followed up out of his expectation with a pace that was not slow, Chen was panicked to death.
Right when Chen was about to speed up as if chased by a beast, a shriek came out of his mouth all of a sudden, which directly muffled the laugh Bo couldn’t help letting out.
Chen never expected to see a snake in the villa. At that moment, he had no time to think about anything else, with screaming coming out of his mouth spontaneously. The scene made his hair all stand on end. And the only thought of Chen was to run away.
He turned around in horror while completely forgetting he was not standing on a flat ground. But it was already too late when he realized that.
“Ah ~”
“Watch out!” Bo dashed up and caught Chen’s body with difficulty. But unfortunately, Bo stepped off the stairs, and the two of them rolled downstairs hugging each other under the influence of inertia.
They rolled hard downstairs. Chen was dizzy for a few seconds and then regained his consciousness. He woke up to find himself on Bo, whose face was pale in pain. He got up and knelt on one side of him. Chen was frightened at the sight of Bo’s broken forehead and the blood all over there. He intended to reach out to support him but his arms shook badly and his waist and legs still hurt. Unprepared for his fall, Chen caused Bo a secondary damage.
With Bo letting out a hum of pain, Chen cried out on the spot.
It was Yunsheng Liang who finally came to help Bo sit up after he heard the noise downstairs. Seeing that Bo supported his own head in one hand and was frowning in agony, Liang pulled out his phone immediately intending to make an emergency call. But Bo reached out to stop him. He shook his head, and then stood up after resting for a while. He stroked Chen’s head to soothe him, and then wiped the tears off his face with his thumb, “It’s all right. Go upstairs.”
“Uncle …”
“Just ask Dr. Fu to come over. He’s enough to handle this.”
Bo went upstairs holding Chen’s hand while that snake which scared Chen to death just now had already disappeared. Amber knew he was in big trouble and had slipped back to his room to find his master earlier on.
Dr. Fu arrived soon with an assistant. After spending an hour in the master bedroom, he came out to the living room to help Chen deal with bruises on his knees and elbows. Head half drooping, Chen asked in a sullen voice, “Is he seriously injured?”
Dr. Fu replied, “You’d better persuade him to go to the hospital for a check.”
Then that meant the situation was really critical. Chen thought it was because Bo didn’t want him to feel burdened psychologically that he refused to go to the hospital. After all, the accident was caused by him, and he even cried in front of him. Chen’s head was now even lower.
Dr. Fu left after sorting out his medicine box and giving some procedural warnings.
Liang went to Chen and apologized.
“It has nothing to do with you.” Chen gently pressed his knee. “That’s not your snake.”
Liang was still feeling guilty. “I accompanied him to pick it up, so I have to bear half the responsibility.”
