As my eyes were drawn to that mechanical wing, the woman slowly looked back at me. Her face was well-groomed and she could be described as a beautiful girl, but what caught my attention even more were her bright iridescent eyes.

Q : Why did she think that this would heal him in the previous chapter?
A : Because Eden (Makina) recognizes herself as ”a comforting partner” for Kaito……
Q : Why didn't Kaito realize that the best friend Eden was talking about was Alice in this chapter?
A : There are several reasons for this.
① In the Light Novel, she heard a little about ”her other best friend”, but not in the Web Novel.
② Eden told her story while somewhat blurring out some information, so Kaito couldn't personally identify who she was talking about.
③ The story is told from the perspective of Eden (Makina), who loves Alice very much, so the Alice is in her story had been ”beautified by 2.7 times”, so with how Alice was like around him, Kaito didn't realize Eden was actually talking about her.
