Chapter 343: Finally, I’ve Been Waiting for You

When he saw Shen Yunya like this, Xi Jin immediately stepped forward to scoop her up and cradle her in his arms. He looked at the high priest and steadily commanded, “Something like this cannot ever be allowed to happen again.”

“Brother Jin, put me down. There’s only a little bit more to go now, and we cannot give up.” Shen Yunya struggled, but because her body was so weak, she could not break free and struggled to breathe.

“Ya’er, I know everything now.”

Shen Yunya froze. She looked up with eyes full of shock and fear and whispered, “Brother Jin.”

“It was all my wishful thinking. Something as bizarre as soul rebirth…how can it possibly be real?” Xi Jin chuckled bitterly. With Shen Yunya in his arms, he hopped onto Little Qing’s back and said, “I have read Dai’er’s letter and will honor her last words. I will marry you and love you as I loved her. Unless you are unwilling.”

“I am willing! How could I be unwilling? But sister…” Before she could finish speaking, Shen Yunya grew tired and panted, and her face paled. For a moment, she could not catch her breath.

“Since you are agreeable, then it is decided,” Xi Jin said and hugged Shen Yunya tightly. However, his voice was full of desolation. Since Dai’er had threatened him like that, how could he disagree? How could he bear never seeing Dai’er again for all eternity?

“However…” Xi Jin began then paused for a second. “Ya’er, please give me one year. I cannot marry someone else before Dai’ers body turns cold in her grave. After one year has passed, I will honor your sister’s wishes and marry you!”

“Jin…” Shen Yunya could not catch her breath and passed out. However, it was hard to tell if it was real or just an act.

Looking at Shen Yunya, who was now deep in slumber, Xi Jin’s heart went numb from the pain. Before Dai’er had passed away, she had been worried the most about the Shen family, Ya’er, and her beloved Jiang Ying. While she was alive, he had been unable to do anything. Although it was not really necessary for him to act now that she had passed away, he would nevertheless honor her last words in the hopes that she could rest in peace. Perhaps then, one day, they would share another lifetime together.
