Considering the options, you decide to pick Charmander since it's finally evolution is a literal dragon; just not in typing. Another reason you chose Charmander was to see if you could use Fly without having Charizard learn it. Although you could have used Pidgeot to test this out, it's cooler to ride a dragon inside of a large bird.
After choosing Charmander, a small poké ball pops out of thin air. Catching it before it falls to the ground, you start playing it it. Pressing the button on the poké ball; it grows into its normal size. Looking at the poké ball, you do what anyone who played Pokémon wanted to do.
Throwing the poké ball into the air, Anthony:”Charmander I choose you!” Saying that, the poké ball opens up and with some kinda white energy, Charmander takes shape before showing his smooth red skin. Catching the poké ball, you look at your baby fire dragon.
Charmander:”Char, Charmander”
Squatting down, you pet Charmander on the head. Looking around, you notice that you don't know where you are right now.
System:User can use the systems map function to scan the area.
Hearing the voice while noticing that Charmander not hearing it and is still enjoying it being petted, you geek out and reach the conclusion that you have a system in your head.
Anthony:”Menu” saying that, a screen pops up with 6 options; [Inventory], [Map], [Mission], [POKéMON], [Stats], and [Store].
Although looking at the map would help right now; using your knowledge from reading light novels, you see if you have a starter kit in your inventory.
To your intuition, there is a start kit in your inventory. Pressing on the starter kit icon and opening it, you hear notifications.
System:Ding! User has open [Starter Kit]. Gaining 3x[Poké Ball], 3x[Lottery Tickets], and 25,000 ₽
Anthony:”Use the lottery tickets”
System:Ding! User has won 2x[Ultra Ball], 1x[Random Summon], and 5x[Rare Candy]
Anthony:”System use random summon”
System:Ding! User has won [Wartortle]
Anthony:”Yes, wartortle will definitely help me since Brock is the first gym leader. Wait are we in the anime or game?”
System:User is in the gen 1 POKéMON game, but due note that you do not have a rival anymore since User has chosen to not pick option 1 at the beginning and that although this is the game User can still change it like the anime. Example being User convincing Brock and Misty to leave there gym and going on a journey like in the anime.
Anthony:”Nah, I'm going to have a harem. What about mega evolutions?”
System:Whenever User defeats the Elite Four and beats the game, User can choose to go to the next generation in which the games are release until there's mega evolutions or buy a mega stone from the System Store.
