The setting sun was as red as blood, reflecting the western sky. The red clouds were pale, and strands of golden sunlight shrank back into the ground.
It took about two hours before Li Tang stopped the horse. In front of him was a small village. The village was dead silent and lifeless. Caw, caw, caw. The horse's hooves kicked and galloped, startling a flock of crows.
This was originally a small village with more than 200 people. A few days ago, a person wearing a bamboo hat passed by and this place became a deserted village.
All dead. Old people, children, men, women, not a single one alive. Not even a single dog was spared. Li Tang looked around the desolate village and slowly said, with an emotional sigh.
”What was the man wearing?” Upon hearing that he was wearing a bamboo hat, a figure flashed across Long Chen's mind. He turned his head to look at Li Tang and asked.
Li Tang stared blankly. ”He's wearing bloody hemp clothes, and he seems to be bald. His appearance is very …” Weird, there seems to be a mark on your face. ” Li Tang replied as he looked at the change in Long Chen's expression.
It was him, Hua Jiu'er! Long Chen closed his eyes. He never thought that so many people would die in search of him. This was all he had seen. Who knew how many other villages he had not seen had been massacred by Hua Jiu'er?
Long Chen suddenly felt a sense of guilt. Even though Lei Lin said that many innocent people would die on this path, Long Chen didn't expect that so many would die. The unarmed Hua Jiu'er was the only thing left for them to do.
His chest felt as if something was blocking it, making him feel uncomfortable. Long Chen opened his eyes and jumped down from his horse, walking towards the quiet village.
Li Tang and the old man behind him looked at each other. The two of them had noticed the change in Long Chen. They followed him down from the horse and followed behind him, waiting for Long Chen to take his next step.
The rustling of leaves on leaves could be heard as Long Chen continued to walk forward. Li Tang stopped at the entrance of the village and watched as Long Chen's back raised his hand to stop the people behind him. He remained silent as he quietly watched Long Chen's back.
The autumn wind lifted Long Chen's hair and let it flutter in the air. Long Chen continued forward, by the side of the road, in the courtyard, in the open doors, beside the water well, there were corpses lying around. Before they died, they went through some unknown pain, and when they died, their eyes were wide open.
After passing by every small courtyard, Long Chen would stop and look at the corpses lying in a pool of dried up blood. In the end, at the top of the village, he would walk past a row of low fences.
A three or four-year-old child was lying on the ground. His body was covered with dried blood. Above the child, a woman was kneeling on the ground, protecting the child with her body bent.
Long Chen walked into the small courtyard and walked towards the two figures. He slowly squatted down and looked into the child's wide eyes, as if he had met with something terrifying before he died. There was a bright hole in the woman's chest, and Long Chen did not know what kind of power was behind it.
If it wasn't for him, Hua Jiu'er would not have come looking for him. This village would not have lost so many people, and this child could still play around with the children in the village. This mother should not have died either.
Long Chen lifted his hand, and his hand that was hesitating in midair trembled slightly. He wanted to close the child's eyes, but was afraid of hurting the child.
Even dead people would feel pain.
Not too far away from Long Chen was half a man's corpse. There was a long trail of blood on the ground, as if trying hard to crawl over before his death.
The wind picked up and the leaves turned yellow, and the bushes in the intestines flipped. The deserted village was deserted, and the lone child swore an oath.
Self-blame, guilt, everything that was piled up in Long Chen's chest felt like a huge rock pressing down on his chest, causing it to feel dull and painful, causing him to be unable to suppress his emotions. Looking at the child lying on the ground, Long Chen's hand that was suspended in the air slowly touched the child's wide eyes, gently wiping them down.
How could he die with his eyes closed?
The huge rock that was pressing down on his chest became heavier and heavier until it finally exploded due to a burst of force. Long Chen raised his head to the sky and roared. The sound tore through the horizon and shot straight into the clouds.
In the blink of an eye, the night sky, which was filled with stars, was filled with dark clouds. Thunder rumbled and resounded through the world. In an instant, rain fell and rain fell, splashing onto Long Chen's upraised face.
Outside the village, Li Tang heard a long howl coming from the inside of the village and quickly ran into the village. Outside the village, Li Tang heard a long howl coming from the inside of the village and quickly ran out of the village.
When they were near the wattled fencing, Li Tang looked at Long Chen who was facing upwards. Long Chen slowly raised his hand and raised his four fingers to the sky, ”I, Long Chen, hereby swear that I will kill to the fullest and use their heads to pay tribute to those who were killed by the cannibal bloodline because of me!”
Boom!
A flash of lightning lit up the world, and the whistling of the wind seemed to be whispering.
Once again, Long Chen squatted down as a child and closed his eyes. This time, the child did not open his eyes again. Instead, he quietly closed them.
The rain had stopped, and it had suddenly come and gone. The dark clouds had been parted by strands of silver light, and a full moon hung in the sky as stars sparkled.
”Daniu, let's go. Come to my house for a drink to celebrate!” A voice came from outside the fence. Long Chen turned his head to look, and saw two transparent figures standing under Haoyue. They were two men, each carrying a wild animal on their shoulders, laughing loudly.
”No, my wife is waiting. If we're late, we'll have to nag each other again. I'll come get some more drinks. Third brother, hurry up and go in. Sister-in-law has already finished cooking so we can smell the fragrance.”
”Haha, remember to come over for a drink after you're done.”
