39 Chapter 39. (2/2)
In a single night, dwarf workers collected the accoutrements on the battlefield and they piled the corpses to burn them. In addition, dwarf engineers fixed the defenses and, even though they were not like the first day, it could be said that they would last much longer.
”Without a doubt, my lord. You can say many things about dwarves, but it is undeniable that they are the best workers that exist”. - Duihir explained.
”Honestly... I'm glad we're on the same side...” - Aldarion said without taking his eyes off the enemy camp.
”I would also say the same about elves, my lord”. - Duihir added.
”Yes, not only are they very intelligent, but they are killing machines. Did you see what they did yesterday in the battle?”- Aldarion continued talking for a while with Duihir, until they saw movement in the enemy camp.
The enemy troops began to form in front of the battlefield, but without getting to enter the range of shooting of the allied army. In turn, the allied army positioned itself in their respective places, waiting for the enemy to approach to start another h.e.l.l on their heads, just as they did the previous day.
But, contrary to everyone's expectations, Adrinû's army did not move from the site, as if they were waiting for something.
Time pa.s.sed and they made no movement. The soldiers of the alliance began to relax, thinking that today they were not going to attack and they were just making pressure. Suddenly, Aldarion had a very bad impression about this.
”Khîm, quick, send someone to go as fast as possible to warn Azaghâl, to send a hundred men to defend the stockade. Duihir, gather the men”. - Quickly, Aldarion started giving orders.
Khîm was the captain of dwarf company he had placed on the flank of Aldarion. He was a relatively young dwarf, but Aldarion soon realized why he was already a captain at such an early age, for the young dwarf was very intelligent and knew how to do his job very well. From the first day, he got along well with Aldarion, which helped a lot so that there were no clashes in the camp between the dunedain and dwarves.
”Men, gather around the captain!” - Without even thinking about it, Duihir complied with Aldarion's order.
On the other hand, Khîm was not a direct servant of Aldarion and he expressed his doubts before acting. - ”Aldarion, what is going on?”
”I think they are preparing a surprise attack on the forest, and with their numbers ... it is possible that the sentries left by your king watching him are not enough to stop them”.
Without further hesitation, the young dwarf captain, Khîm, quickly sent a messenger to the dwarf king.
”Duihir, let's go to the forest. That the men are attentive in case there is an ambush, later on, we do not know if they have finished with the sentries”. - Without saying more, Aldarion went to the forest.
”Men, in training to march! Watch where you step!”- Duihir ordered the Rangers and marched behind Aldarion.
