Chapter 969 Stone Bruise (1/2)

Zed placed his shaky hand over the throbbing pain on his neck. His hand felt warm liquid as he slowly checked and saw blood seeping through his fingers. He winced and grunted in pain.

The drunkard's eyes widened in surprise after coming back to his sober senses to realize what he had done. ”I…I…I did n-not m-mean t-to d-do it…” he explained, waving his hand back and forth and clearly frightened by what had happened. He looked around and started to walk far away from the scene.

”What are you still standing there for? Go, and chase after that bastard!” Julie shouted to the security guard of the bar, who was just standing nearby. He was also shocked about what had just happened before hearing Julie's shouts and then chased after the drunkard. Julie then turned her attention to Zed and immediately helped him into the car. The most important thing to do right now was to send him to the hospital to get treated.

Even though Julie was composed and calm on the outside, deep inside she was panicking. She helped Zed on the passenger seat, fastened his seat belt, and then started the car in haste. As soon as she stepped on the gas pedal, the momentum of the car as she drove towards the hospital could not be stopped. Not long after, they arrived at the nearest hospital.

Zed's arms were across Julie's shoulder as they limped inside the emergency room. ”Doctor! Help! He's bleeding really bad! Quick! Doctor, please!” Julie shouted. Her eyes were full of tears and her whole body shook nervously, but she tried to compose herself as she placed Zed on the nearest bench, careful not to make him fall.

”Julie, it's only a minor injury. Don't worry about it,” Zed said as he tried to calm her down.

”Minor? No way… You… You're losing so much blood… That's not… That can't be your main artery, right? Oh, god, it's all my fault… Doctor! Oh, what should I do? What should I do! Where is the doctor? Anyone!”

Julie exclaimed and could not help but burst into tears. At that moment, Julie was so eager to go back to that exact moment right now. If only she had stood in front of him or even just pushed him away, then he might not have been so badly injured.

Then again, the shock took her moments before, because she did not expect that he would protect her.

As she thought of this, a warm feeling rushed inside her. In addition to the feeling of extreme gratitude, her feelings for him grew as well.

Finally, an available doctor rushed towards them and led Zed to get treated. He examined the wound and quickly stanched it. Fortunately, the cut wasn't on the main artery or any other vital areas. However, since the weapon used was a large stone, a large area of his neck was bruised and so was part of his cheek.

After the wound got treated, Zed looked like a mummy from all the bandage wrapped around his neck and gauze on his cheek. He grimaced after feeling the unease of movement especially from the neck up. He wasn't going to be able to move a lot, but at least, he was still alive.

When everything was settled, and when Zed did not feel dizzy anymore from all the blood loss, Zed and Julie walked out of the hospital. Both were silent as they made their way out

”Do you know what you did wrong? It's alright if you just wanted to own me. But you should not have helped Molly leave me!”

When Brian learns the truth, there is no chance for Hannah to win his heart.

Molly, who wants to run away from Brian, seems to be the only one to blame for Hannah's misfortune...

ve already been getting along very well with Zed these days, haven't I? So, why should I stop and give up at such a critical moment?”

In addition to these thoughts, her mother as well. She had been constantly demanding Julie of money for her living expenses. And her not so promising brother as well. All these became a factor to convince herself of the latter thought.
