Yanni turned to Avery and put on a smile as she said, ”Vikki, I recognize you. You're the superstar who has acted in many Hollywood films. You look way better than what you look like in your pictures.”

”Thank you for the flattery.” Avery shot a quick glance at Yanni as she added in a polite but cold tone, ”By the way, who are you?”

”I...” Yanni raised the corners of her lips into a mysterious smile and replied, ”You can guess.”

”You want me to guess?” Avery bursted out laughing and continued, ”I've been sitting here for about half an hour and you haven't even bothered to grace us with a glance. All I could see was you trying to hitch up a conversation with Zed. Aren't you aware that Zed is married? I'm saying this for your own benefit. It's a well-known fact that Zed adores his beloved wife Jean and remains committed to her. Don't you, Zed?”

Avery turned to Zed with a sly smile as though to confirm whether he was in agreement to what she just claimed about him.

Zed was annoyed with the direction in which this conversation was proceeding. For the time being, he chose to remain calm and serene.

He always got grossly uncomfortable when women fought each other. He had constructed a belief inside himself that women fought for petty and silly issues just for the sake of it.

He sensed that the atmosphere around had grown tensed due to their quarrel.

It was pretty obvious that Avery was trying to forbid Yanni from trying to hit on Zed.

Zed had figured it out as well. He understood that Avery was only being a faithful friend to both him and his wife, Jean.

Had Jean briefed them over anything a while ago?

With this thought in mind, Zed turned his attention to Jean, who was currently seated right next to him.

Jean was beaming at Avery at the moment.

Her smile seemed to indicate that she was joyful rather than angry.

Noticing that, Zed calmed down and deduced that Jean had no role to play in this quarrel.

”Yeah,” Zed replied, nodding. He looked at Jean and said with a tender smile, ”If it wasn't that way, what would have been the significance of getting married if the husband doesn't care for his wife?”

Jean was surprised to hear Zed's words. She immediately broke into a laughter.

She had almost forgotten that her relationship with Zed had survived so many struggles that it was firm enough.

If Yanni had an intention to break Zed and Jean apart, she ought to have been day dreaming.

Jean realized that she couldn't let Yanni affect her
