”That being the case, I believe the best thing for Jean is what you said. I am happy as long as she is. That's all I need.”
Moore nodded in agreement when he heard Zed's points.
For some reason, he looked strange and Zed looked at him with a complicated expression. ”Moore!” He remarked, ”You seem an entirely different person tonight. You're not a simple man, are you?” No... You are definitely not a simple man!”
”Zed! Do you really think that a person who has had a childhood as miserable as mine will be simple?” Moore turned towards him and asked softly. ”Your identity is also very complicated. But I never ask you about it. I think we should make a promise to each other that we will never enquire about the other person's true identity.”
”Okay, I promise,” Zed agreed after a few seconds of thought.
”Me too,” Moore replied shortly and finally, a smile showed up on his face, making him appear once more to be the sunny personality people usually took him to be.
Zed gazed at him deeply for a moment and then turned to look at the sky with a smile on his face.
Far away at the horizon, a red sun was rising and casting its crimson rays, reddening both of their faces with the early morning sunshine.
On the other side of the tent, Ron and Maranda, who had just woken up and weren't too neatly dressed also witnessed the moment and got pretty excited.
However, Maranda was stunned to see Zed and Moore up and about so early and asked, ”What are you guys doing up so early? Don't you sleep?” Thinking of something suddenly, she added, ”Where is Jean?”
”She is still sleeping inside,” Zed replied.
”Oh! No! The sun is going to rise. I have to wake Jean up quickly. She's going to give me quite a lecture if she hears that we watched the sunrise without her.” Maranda was just about to walk over and wake Jean, when Zed suddenly called out and stopped her, ”Maranda, don't wake her up. Just let her sleep for a little while longer.” Maranda was confused.
”Why?” She asked him with a puzzled look on her face.
