She waited for her to finish speaking before she softly popped the question. ”Maranda, why did you resign from the company?”

”Why did I resign?” Apparently, Maranda's mind went blank at first when she heard the question, but then she responded quickly. ”Yeah Jean, I resigned. I didn't think you'd be going back to the company anymore now, and it wasn't going to be much fun over there without you. So I resigned. But, how did you come to know that?”

”Well I was bound to find out! Besides, I am calling from the company office's building right now.” Jean rolled her eyes at once. ”I wanted to come here to see you, but they told me you didn't work here anymore. Why didn't you tell me?”

”I heard that you were very busy these days and I was afraid that if I bothered your rest for such a trifle, Mr. Qi was going to kill me.” Maranda laughed awkwardly.

”Come on, Don't I know the kind of person you are? You must have been busy dating Ron and forgotten everything! And that is why even I, your oldest friend didn't get to know that!” Jean rebuked her.

”Honey, I swear to God. How can I possibly not want you know such a thing? Even if I didn't have myself with me, I wouldn't get far without you!” When Maranda heard Jean say that, she became anxious at once and started becoming incoherent, blabbering several compliments and loving gestures at once and Jean could hardly control her laughter.

It was almost as if her mouth had hung over a really complex tongue twister. ”Do you really value me that much?” Trying hard to suppress herself from laughing out loud, Jean asked.

”Yes Jean. And if you don't believe me, I can show you my heart!” Maranda replied with a rather cheesy dialogue without thinking.
