Chapter 277 Hiram, No Way! (1/2)
Rachel was surprised, but happy at the same time. Maybe her words from yesterday hadn't gone to waste after all.
So… what exactly did he have in mind for them?
Curious, she grabbed her phone to check on the type of entertainment there. 'Double Bungee Jumping, Tandem Skydiving and Couples Adventure Ride?!!' Her face instantly turned pale.
”Hiram! I'm not going anymore. Let's go home!”
”Uh-oh! Too late, honey,” he replied while arriving at their destination.
Hiram couldn't hold his excitement. He had the largest smile on his face. It had been a few years, indeed, since the last time he came to one of these places.
Hurriedly, he drove the car into the parking lot and turned off the engine. Then, looking at Rachel who was getting cold feet, he said in a reprimanding tone,” I told you it might not be a good idea to look it up on your phone beforehand. You could have just enjoyed the majestic views on the way here. Now all you got is anxiety. You brought this onto yourself.”
Hiram was ready to get out of the car. However, Rachel was still in her seat all buckled up with no intention to release her seat belt. She didn't appreciate being taken by surprise, and was definitely not feeling capable of handling all those challenging, extreme thrills.
”Hiram, who says you are boring and don't know how to have fun?” She began flattering him in an attempt to stroke his ego. ”Let me tell you, you've always known how to have fun and you're never unexciting to me. I think you're the most exciting man in the world, actually. You're the best... you're handsome, rich, and most importantly, you're kind, gentle and considerate. So let's just go home, okay? You have nothing to prove to me.
Plus, I promise that I won't say you're boring or lacking in romance again. In fact, those complaints are for young couples. We've been married for a long time and we have kids too. These kinds of rides are not for us anymore. So can we just go home?”
But as soon as she grabbed his sleeves nervously, her anxiety annulled any persuading attempts. Her words from yesterday had come back to bite her and now she was regretting everything she had said.
Bungee jumping or skydiving were way out of her comfort zone. She used to be braver before, but not anymore. Maybe having children changed her, or maybe it was the lack of practice. Either way, going on those rides felt absolutely terrifying and she had to get out of there.
”Rachel,” Hiram began,” we came here to have fun. Now that we're here, all we need to do is simply enjoy ourselves. Besides, every ride here is designed for two people. I'll be with you. What are you afraid of?”
”Hiram, shall we just enjoy the view over there and forget about those rides?”
Then she paused for a few seconds trying to come up with any other alternative, but nothing would come to her mind.
”We don't have to go in there. How about us having some fun at home instead? Yes Hiram, let's go home, please. We can think of something fun to do at home too.”
But again, her anxiety started showing as
