1840 Heaven (1/2)
The Firmament Stone could tell that the thick ice that covered the world was starting to melt away. Perhaps, Gu Xijiu finally found a sense of hope for what she had been waiting for.
”Master, why are you so obsessed about heaven? Perhaps, heaven isn't all that it is said to be. It may not even be as good as our world.”
Gu Xijiu shook her head and answered, ”I do not know.”
She was indeed obsessed about the idea of ascending to heaven as if there was something that she had been hoping to find.
A conversation flashed before her eyes. ”About me, it is not entirely hopeless. I may not be gone forever even after the immortalization. I may ascend to heaven.” She closed her eyes, trying to recall more of the conversation. She did not even know who was the one talking to her, but she was confident that he was someone of utmost importance. It was a shame that she had forgotten about him.
She could tell that the person must be a man. She knew she was not a homosexual. She tried to find out more from the people around, but no one was aware of the existence of the man.
Mu Feng had always thought that her extended period of stay in the forbidden land must have caused some complications, leaving her with the constant illusion about the man. She was not sure about that theory either.
Affected by her constant depression, her heart filled with dead ashes. The man in her illusion was her last hope to revive her utterly dissipated heart.
The Firmament Stone continued to talk with her, but Gu Xijiu seemed absent-minded; she was utterly oblivious to its excessive talk.
The Firmament Stone stared helplessly at her. Gu Xijiu used to be unapproachable, but at least she was quite lively. Occasionally, she would talk with it by sharing a little of what she was thinking, or even make some jokes.
Now, she would not answer anything, no matter how it tried to get her attention. Talking with someone so unresponsive was like talking to the air. The Firmament Stone was disappointed, but it could not tell her about it.
