The dark water continued to rise while they talked, but Di Fuyi's wizardry barrier was strong enough to resist the pressure. Therefore, the rising water only managed to cover up the wizardry barrier and did not penetrate it.

Gu Xijiu was unduly frightened, especially when she found out that the majority of her skin was severely burned. She thought that she would never be able to recover.

But as always, Di Fuyi's presence shone a light of hope on her. He looked a little sad, but he remained composed the entire time. He would still joke around with her as though everything was going to be all right. Of course, she found it very reassuring.

Of all the people in the world, Gu Xijiu was the one who knew him best. He always had a solution to every problem. They had been through many hardships together and overcame all of them with ease thanks to his quick wits. She was sure that it would be the same this time.

Joyfully, she hugged Di Fuyi's waist and said, ”I know you will always find a way.”

As for Gu Xijiu's injuries, burns were the hardest to endure, especially the ones that she had just suffered.

Di Fuyi knew how it must have felt as he got a taste of it when he first arrived. It was a pain that not even the toughest man could easily withstand.

Di Fuyi took a look at the woman in his arms before he rubbed her head most affectionately. ”It is okay to scream if you are still in pain. Don't hold it in. No one else can hear you.”

”I am feeling much better now.” Gu Xijiu dismissed his concern.

Di Fuyi continued to look at her. ”When I was examining your pulse, I noticed that you tried to use the Soul Dissipating Spell. Did you try to kill yourself?”

”I thought that I was never going to leave this place. Hence, I would rather die than be trapped here for all eternity,” Gu Xijiu answered in a firm tone.
