Gu Xijiu finally heaved a long sigh of relief. She realized why Yin Jiusi left so hastily. At first, she thought that Yin Jiusi was so intimidated by Di Fuyi. It turned out that he was actually feeling awkward.

\”What a misunderstanding,\” she thought to herself.

She wanted to take a sip of tea but realized that her hand was still in his hand. She could feel his warmth on her skin and felt rather uncomfortable. It felt as though there was a steady stream of heat slowly entering her veins.

With a tug, she tried to free her hand, but could not. She wanted to try to pull away harder this time but was distracted by someone coughing at the door. Yin Jiusi was back.

Yin Jiusi was a man of sufficient intelligence and understanding. \”May I serve the food now?\” He had to ask for their permission first.

\”Surely, you may. Please come in and eat with us,\” Gu Xijiu offered. Also, she felt the need to remind Di Fuyi again, \”You should let go of my hand,\” she said while giving another pull.

\”Baby, we need to display our affection publicly. \”

Di Fuyi only gave her a tight smile, without any intention of letting her hand go.

Gu Xijiu said nothing more.

The moment Yin Jiusi entered the room, he felt terribly uncomfortable by the sight of the couple being overly attached to one another. Di Fuyi was sitting closely next to Gu Xijiu, whilst holding her hand. It was as if they were glued together.

Yin Jiusi had to move his eyes away from them just to feel less awkward. He still had some doubts about their complicated relationship before he entered the room, but most of his suspicions disappeared when he saw the couple's current interactions.

The man was once her fiancé, though just for a while. But it was not real. There was no way for him to find the courage to make any contact or even hold her hand. He needed to be mentally prepared before even moving slightly closer to her.
