He looked at 'Lan Waihu,' who was beside him to gauge her response to the situation. Her face was visibly pale as well; it seemed like she was surprised by the place as well.

”Don't be afraid; I will protect you.” He held Lan Waihu's little hand as he spoke.

Lan Waihu bit her lip and looked at him with tears rolling in her eyes, ”Will you dislike me after seeing all that my family has done?”

”No, it has nothing to do with you.” Yan Chen rubbed her hair and assured her.

Lan Waihu leaned into his arms and spoke softly, ”I am still terrified...”

”What are you afraid of?”

”I am afraid that your friends will not be able to accept me once this has been exposed.”

Yan Chen was not very good at lying, even when he needed to comfort someone. He was silent for a while before he replied, ”This matter has nothing to do with you. If they really can't accept you, I will run away with you to stay away from any troubles.”

'Lan Waihu' remained silent. Yan Chen's remarks are what any girl wanted to hear. Her eyes shimmered slightly as she slowly reached out her arms and held Yan Chen's waist. She did not speak but just leaned her head against his muscular chest.

Having her so close to him, Yan Chen could not help but sniff her familiar scent. All of a sudden, he felt very sorry for the way he had been treating her. Once he had his suspicions about her, he grew rather wary of his wife. But now, looking at her natural movements and familiar appearance, he felt that he had overthought the situation.
