Gu Xijiu started to flush crimson at the thought of their intimate moments. ”I am serious,” she said shyly as she gave him a gentle push.

”Sweetheart, I am serious, too. Do you really think I will joke about something so important?” Di Fuyi pulled her close at the waist to stop her from moving anywhere.

”But…”

”There are no buts. The baby is mine! Xijiu, we are not like ordinary mortals; their way of conceiving a baby does not apply to us.”

Gu Xijiu was finally relieved. All was well. She reassured herself, ”I am pregnant. I have a baby! Haha! I am pregnant!” Her head was suddenly filled with many happy thoughts as she had always wanted a baby.

She gently caressed her belly and was happy to know that she was nurturing a baby, a new life that they both shared. From now on, they would be a family of three. She would never be alone.

In the fullness of her joy, her eyes winked in jubilant delight. She had a broad and bright smile on her face too. As disciplined as she was to keep her emotions to herself, the big smile on her face could no longer hide the delight that blossomed in her heart.

Di Fuyi kissed her softly on her forehead. Her liveliness excited him. He loved to see her being so joyful, so much so that he wanted to hold her in his arms and squeeze her tightly.

When he recalled their past, he remembered their bitter separation upon his death. He could immediately imagine how much pain she had suffered in those years of his absence. Hence, he could not help but kiss her even more and secure her more tightly in his embrace.

She was pregnant with their baby now, and he was happy about it too. He wanted for her to have a baby before he was immortalized, so she had something to look forward to and guide her through the painful times. Unfortunately, everything about him was destined to be wiped away without a trace, so it was impossible for them to have a child back then.

This time, it was a pleasant surprise. He could hardly believe his observation when he first examined her pulse. He had to be sure and tried to check it a few times to be convinced. He became so excited that he even went further and even found out the gender of the baby.
