37 Chapter 36 (1/2)
After Chopper agreed to join my crew, I left him to tend to Robin, while I went back to Dr. Kuhera. She was still in the same room sitting on the table and drinking, but she was also reading a book this time.
I caught a glimpse of what she was reading before she closed the book and placed it on the table next to her. It looked like the same language that was on the Poneglyph. Unfortunately, I couldn't understand anything that was written in the book.
Kureha didn't say anything to me, but she stood up and went to get a glass. She filled it with alcohol and placed it in front of me.
”The road ahead is dangerous, are you prepared to carry the burden with it?” The Doctor asked me with a serious look.
”Dangerous or not, I've already made my decision,” I told her with conviction. I've already decided that I will find Raftel, and uncover the truth behind the Void Century, while also becoming Pirate King on the way.
”Roger tried and failed. Why do you think you will succeed?” Kureha questioned me. I wasn't completely sure what she meant by failed, but I didn't dwell on it too much.
”That's easy to answer,” I replied.
”Oh, really?” That piqued her interest, judging by her amused look.
”I will just be better than him,” I answered her with determination.
”Heeheehee, that's easy to say boy, but hard to do. Only time will tell if you will succeed.” She opened another bottle after saying that but didn't continue the topic.
”So Chopper agreed to come with you, huh? About time he leaves to see the world. His father would be proud.” Kureha looked happy about him, but I also saw her eyes water a bit. She will definitely miss his presence.
”I'm sure Chopper will get along well with my crew. They are all nice people.” I said.
We continued talking about Chopper, and she told me stories about his father, Dr. Hiriluk as well. Kureha said that he was the worst Doctor she has ever seen, but he was the kindest as well. Despite not having the medical skills and knowledge, he was always willing to help.
We continued drinking and talking about some random stuff, but after Kureha opened her fourth bottle, she started creeping me out.
”Well you won the bet, but I won't say no if you want to go to my room, heeheehee” She laughed out, and that was my cue to leave.
”I think I will go and check up on Robin and Chopper.” I don't think I've ever run faster in my life.
Walking towards Robin's room, I found Chopper outside trying to hide, yet failing miserably. His body was in the middle of the door while only half of his head was covered by the wall. Robin had already woken up and was looking at him with an amused look.
”She can see you, you know, shishisi.” Hearing me, Chopper fixed himself.
”It's already too late, shishisi. Just go inside, and introduce yourself to her. She is also apart of my crew.” I pushed him slightly, and he stumbled in. Chopper turned around and looked at me once, before introducing himself.
”My name is Tony Tony Chopper. Are you feeling better?” After asking her, he ran back behind me.
”I do feel better. Are you the one that treated me?” Robin asked Chopper.
”Mhm, but it was Dr. Kureha that made the medicine.” Seeing she meant him no harm, he answered her while walking next to her and looked at her hand.
”See this here. You were bitten by an insect called Casha. Usually, those bitten by it die within five days, if they are not treated.” Chopper told her while pointing at a tiny mark. He continued explaining how deadly is the poison from the insect afterward.
Robin was very thankful to him for treating her, and Chopper seemed happy to be praised and thanked for his effort.
We talked a bit more after that, but Robin was very weak and fell asleep shortly. Due to her condition, there was no way for us to leave today, so I made a clone and sent it to my crew to inform them.
For the rest of the day and night, I found a place outside the castle to train, while trying to avoid Dr. Kureha at any cost. Alabasta
Early in the morning, Robin was already feeling a lot better, and Chopper confirmed that she would be able to travel in this condition. Before leaving, Dr. Kureha pulled me aside.
”Take this. You would need in the future.” She gave me a small green stone with a string going through the middle of it, giving it the appearance of a medallion.
”You will know it's purpose when the time is right,” Kureha told me seeing my confused look.
”Now go, and make sure Chopper is safe. He is like a son to me, and if I hear that something happened to him, I will personally end you.” The Doctor threatened me with a menacing tone, before turning around and walking back inside.
Chopper brought us down from the mountain on a sled, that was connected to a cable, making it look like a cable lift. He pulled us down, and my crew was already waiting for us there.
