305 Isaacs birthday weekend 3 (2/2)

”We don't need to go if you don't want to. Or we can go for a few minutes and leave…” Liz started talking quickly. She saw that Max's brows furrowed and she assumed how that was in disapproval of Isaac throwing the party with a goal to introduce Max to people. ”We can always go to my apartment…”

”No, no… it's fine.” Max interrupted Liz. ”Honestly, I am honored if this is because of me. I assume that people from the hospital will be there.”

Liz confirmed. ”There is also a number of people in my dad's circle who are not part of the medicinal field. He showed me the guest list and there is a variety of people. The invitation specifies that everyone can bring their family and dates, so there is a chance we are looking at more than a hundred people. Possibly two hundred. You were in New York before, there is a chance that you know some of them.”

”I was in New York a few times for business. So… maybe…” Max didn't want to mention that several times he came to party… the kind of parties he attended before he met Liz. Max hopes that Isaac's friends didn't bring their children, especially daughters. That might be a problem. Max hoped that he is overthinking things. After all, New York is a huge place.

Downstairs, guests were arriving, and Isaac welcomed them.

Isaac was happily shaking hands with people at the main entrance and gesturing to them to proceed down the hallway toward the main event hall.

There was plenty of food and beverages, and the program for the evening included a fancy dinner and a live band.

Isaac was pleased to see that the most prominent people arrived, and he is excited to introduce them to Max. He hopes that Max will see that Isaac (and Liz) are not restricted to the medical field and with all these new connections, maybe the Alpha Group opens their branch in New York, or at least create some solid partnerships. That would increase the probability of Max (and Liz) coming to New York on a regular basis.

Of course, Isaac does not know what the future brings, but he is aware that Max and Liz are in love and committed to each other and he wants to create various opportunities for them because Isaac believes that Max is an amazing young man. Also, Isaac fears that Liz will decide to stay in Seattle permanently. Liz's career in Seattle is blossoming and her friends and Max are there, why would she return to New York? And if that happens, when will Isaac see her? He is already sick from missing her, and if she announces that she will stay there… he will be devastated.

Ronald Sandall arrived with his son Patrick.

”The two of you came without dates?” Isaac asked while shaking hands. Most of Isaac's guests are males, but they all came with a wife, girlfriend, or daughter. Some of the guests brought several people with them, but nearly all of them came with a date.

”Dates?” Ronald was surprised. Other than in the work setting and occasional lunch, he didn't interact with Isaac. Ronald has a few ladies in his address book, but he didn't think about bringing any of them as a date. Now that Isaac mentioned it, he realized that a date would be good. But… what about Patrick? How would Patrick leave a good impression on Elizabeth if he came with some other woman?

”We don't need dates. I look forward to spending some time with Elizabeth.” Patrick responded to Isaac's question because his father was non-responsive. At the same time, Patrick wanted to make it clear that he will be looking for Liz.

”You can say hi, but I'm not sure about spending time with her. She has a date for tonight. Her boyfriend.” Isaac said.

Patrick didn't think much of it. His father told him that Liz has a boyfriend, but it's something recent. And people breakup anytime.

”Liz having a date is fine. Will he prevent her from talking and dancing with other guests?” Patrick asked and tugged his father inside. ”Let's go, we are blocking the entrance…”

Isaac was not comfortable with Patrick's statement about Liz talking and dancing with others. It's not what he said, but how he said it, like Max's presence is not important.

Isaac didn't have much time to think about Patrick's attitude, more guests were waiting to shake hands with their host.

Ronald and Patrick entered the event hall.

”Wow… this is massive…” Patrick said with admiration while his eyes didn't leave crystal chandeliers which sparkled from the ceiling. The mansion looks impressive from the outside, but the inside is absolutely dazzling.

Ronald leaned closer and spoke only for Patrick to hear: ”Play your cards right, and all this could be yours. Isaac has no one other than Elizabeth.”

Patrick frowned. ”I know, I know… you don't need to remind me.”

Patrick is attracted to all these riches, who wouldn't be? But the truth is that Patrick has a crush on Liz for a long time, however, she was never interested. Whenever he approached her, she would talk about medicine and surgeries, and Patrick is not into that, so he was unable to hold a conversation.

Patrick has his e-commerce company that produces physical and digital marketing products for medium and small size businesses. His company is not super-famous, but they are growing, and Patrick is doing well for himself. He has a house, two cars, and a speedboat in the marina, however, it's nothing like this. The Williams villa is massive and stunning and screams money. If he says that he is not interested in being the master of this place, Patrick would be lying.
