43 The Black Rose nightclub 2 (1/2)
It didn't take long for Mia to move to the neighboring booth, next to the young man whose drink she accepted. Liz saw that both of them smiled and enjoyed each other's company.
Liz wanted to go home and snuggle in front of the television, but she has to stay with her friends who came all the way from New York. She told herself more than once not to be the party pooper.
After another glass of wine, Liz found that the evening is not so bad. She was aware that the alcohol is taking effect, but she knew that Max is next to her and that he will not allow anything bad to happen.
Liz looked at Max and wondered, since when did she started relying on him?
For some unexplainable reason, she was confident that Max will protect her and make sure that she reaches home safely no matter how much she drinks.
Liz and Max worked on their drinks while observing and occasionally commenting on the live-show of Brianna and Quentin flirting.
Quentin recuperated from his nearly-mute state and started speaking in coherent sentences, but Brianna definitely had an upper hand.
Quentin wanted to know more about her, and he was mesmerized by her voice and her lips and her eyes and her everything while she spoke about her travel blog. Brianna is a very good storyteller and Quentin laughed many times while listening to various stories about her adventures (with Mia).
Quentin was smitten. Brianna is gorgeous, smart, with a great sense of humor and he is painfully aware that she got him wrapped around her finger without even trying. But as a man he can't allow himself to go down without a fight. He is the hunter (aka the man), and she is the catch (aka the woman). He will not admit a defeat as long as he can move… and he still has some moves left!
Brianna enjoyed talking to Quentin. He is handsome, and smart and with a great sense of humor, and she is aware that she got him wrapped around her finger. Eh, he is not the first one. He is not the first macho-playboy-type who refuses to admit a defeat. And she is determined to show him what an utter defeat is! After all, she came here to have fun. Bonus is that Liz is watching them… she might learn a thing or two. And Brianna is aware that Max is watching as well.
Brianna didn't miss gazes of some of the women from the dancefloor directed toward them. She was not sure if they are because of Quentin directed at her, or because of Max directed at Liz, but she realized that those looks are not 'I wish to be there', but they are 'I was there, and you are in my spot!'
”Question!”, Brianna announced to Quentin.
”Tell me.”, he said expectantly.
Brianna is like a jack in the box, full of surprises and each time she starts the next topic Quentin's heart jolts, and butterflies fill his stomach at the sound of her voice.
”How many girls did you kiss in this booth?”
Quentin's face fell. What kind of a question is that? He knows that no matter how he answers, he is in trouble. Damnit! And he thought that he is doing well.
”I'm not expecting an exact number. An approximation is fine.”, Brianna explained. ”Tens, hundreds? More?”
Quentin frowned when he realized that Brianna has no intention of letting go of this topic. ”What is the point of me answering that question?”
Brianna matched his frown. ”If you want to woo a woman, you need to make her feel special. Bringing her to a place where you had who knows how many before her, is not a good idea.”
