838 Infiltrating the Sec (1/2)

”In short, don't act rashly. Although the Dragon City Talisman is precious, it is not worth taking such a risk for. Some of these hermit-like experts have strange tempers and don't do things according to common sense. Pay close attention to those two girls but do it in secret. If there is any news, inform me immediately.”

Xie Rengui slowly closed his eyes as he tapped the surface of the table with his fingertips as though he was thinking about something. Yun Pengqing got up to leave. In reality, he suspected that the mysterious person that saved them in the forest last time was related to the incident with the Dragon City Talisman.

He had inferred that if the two low-level disciples had any relationship with the mysterious black shadow, it would explain a lot of things.

”Oh, by the way, Sect Leader, I remembered something,” Yun Pengqing suddenly turned and said as he walked to the door, seemingly remembering something.

”Did you want to mention the youth that Su Wan'er rescued a few days ago?” Xie Rengui slowly opened his eyes.

Upon hearing this, Yun Pengqing was stunned. He inwardly praised the Sect Leader for finding out about this so quickly. The sect leader's ability was indeed far greater than his own.

”That youth is too young to be responsible. By rights, even if he practiced ancient martial arts, his cultivation would not be too high. There are many geniuses in this world, but youths that powerful are few.” Xie Rengui shook his head. The possibility of the youth being the mysterious black shadow was too low.

”But my investigation has found that the two little girls have had no special encounters these past few days. The only thing they did was save that youth,” Yun Pengqing said as he frowned. The lives of the low-level disciples were very peaceful every day, constantly following a regular cycle. The only interlude was Su Wan'er saving the youth. If there were no issues with this youth, then Yun Pengqing could not think of any other reason.

”I've also sent people to watch over this youth. It might not be him, but we cannot eliminate the possibility that it is connected to him,” Xie Rengui said.

”Sect Leader, I'm afraid that this incident will cause some people to turn. After all, two Dragon City Talismans are too precious. You are also aware that last time when we headed to the Huatian Palace to exchange items for the Dragon City Talisman, only us five elders, Mei Yixuan and Qi Hang knew, but the news of it was still leaked…” Yun Pengqing suddenly stopped halfway through his sentence.

”Are you saying that there is a mole?” A cold look flashed in Xie Rengui's eyes.

After the incident occurred last time, the Five Tigers Sect had constantly searched for the mole internally, but to no avail. Actually, everyone understood that the spy was certainly one of just a few people in the sect. But finding the person was not easy.

It was impossible for Mei Yixuan and Qi Hang to be the mole because they had only received the mission at the last moment. Also, Yun Pengqing and Wang He had kept an eye on the two of them along the way. They had almost no chance of leaking the news at all. As for the remaining five of them, aside from sect leader Xie Rengui who could be excluded, the other four were all still suspects.

Even Yun Pengqing and Wang He who had participated in the mission were suspects. There was no evidence to prove that the two of them were not moles. As long as they could not be proven innocent, they could be the spy.

The four of them were all Sect Grand Elders and they all held prestigious positions in the sect. This meant that they could not use many methods to investigate them. Finding out the mole's identity would not be an easy task.

Yun Pengqing was worried that if the mole knew about the two Dragon City Talismans, they would come up with an evil plan to get their hands on them.

”Pengqing, do you know why I asked you to protect the two little girls?” Xie Rengui asked plainly.

”I understand.” A warm look flashed in Yun Pengqing's eyes. The sect leader clearly trusted him, so he had asked him to protect them.

...….

Late at night, Mo Wen sat crossed-legged on his wooden bed. The moon outside shone on his face through the open window, causing his entire body to appear calmer and colder.

Suddenly, he frowned. He glanced out of the window and then lay down on the bed as though nothing had happened. He closed his eyes and his breathing instantly became slow, even and deep, as though he had fallen into a deep sleep.

A faint shadow flashed past the window and silently entered the wooden house. The silhouette initially stood there motionless in the room, just quietly watching Mo Wen who was on the bed. Only after fifteen minutes did the person walk up to the bed. The figure extended their hand and, with a motion swifter than a thunderclap, grabbed at Mo Wen's throat.

However, Mo Wen did not respond at all and continued to breathe steadily and deeply.

The black shadow's hand reached out and then retracted. There was a look of incredulity in the person's eyes. After a short while, the silhouette moved with a flash and exited through the window.

Mo Wen slowly opened his eyes and gazed out the window with an expressionless look on his face.

”Trying to test me in the middle of the night? That person's Inner Qi waves seem similar to the two Five Tigers Sect Sect Grand Elders from that day. He is most likely from the Five Tigers Sect. Could it be that the members of the Five Tigers Sect are already suspicious of me?”

Mo Wen knew that, after the incident in the forest, the Five Tigers Sect would certainly investigate what had happened. However, he had not imagined that they would actually investigate him. How had they made the connection? The imagination of the Five Tigers Sect was obviously rather vivid.

Since he was under suspicion, Mo Wen would not stay in the Five Tigers Sect any longer. He needed peace and quiet. He did not want to be involved in the affairs of these ancient martial arts sects.

The next morning, Mo Wen left early and prepared to head over to Wan'er's little wooden house. He at least had to say goodbye before he left.

Also, he liked this little girl Wan'er very much. He had really wanted to teach her medicine. That being said, Mo Wen was not a qualified doctor. He did not have such kindness. The reason why he had learned medicine was because he grew up in an ancient medical family, and it was the craft that they had practiced for generations. If he had not been raised in an ancient medical family, he might not necessarily have learned medicine.

In Mo Wen's eyes, the Way of the Immortal was his greatest pursuit. Only by becoming immortal could he live as long as the heavens and the earth and share in the glory of the sun and moon. No matter how high his medical skills were, they could not make him immortal and indestructible.

If a person like Mo Wen was born into a family of immortal cultivators, he would certainly be a hero of their time.
