659 Reaching the Altar (1/2)
An average ancient martial art practitioner would certainly panic if they encountered such a situation, but Mo Wen remained calm. A gentle breeze swept past him. The next moment, his figure stopped falling and began instead to fly forwards at a bizarre angle. He headed in a downwards projectile curve. Mo Wen managed to avoid crashing into the rock pillars as gravity acted on him and pulled him downwards.
Caw!
The sharp cry of an eagle suddenly sounded. Suddenly, a cyan tornado descended from the sky, heading straight for Mo Wen.
Once the cyan tornado appeared, all the wind was immediately disturbed. Using movement techniques that relied on wind direction, wind speed and the power of the wind would be extremely difficult.
However, Mo Wen's Glory of Wind was not affected at all. He managed to successfully evade the onslaught of the Blue-eyed Earth Shattering Pangolin.
It was clear the Cyan Light Eagle was not prepared to simply stand by and watch. A huge cyan tornado had already descended from the sky, completely covering a radius of a hundred meters.
At the same time, the Erupting Inferno Lion had caught up. A flaming silhouette pounced from behind.
Once Mo Wen approached the edge of the altar, he was immediately encircled by three Lord Monstrous Beasts. Up until this point, the three beasts had not even appeared. Their mission was to guard the altar and the Beast King's treasure which sat upon it.
On the other side, Pei Fengwu and the other two were making their way to the altar, slaughtering all those who got in their way. Both Hou Jingfeng and Gong Zhangyan seemed to be slowing down for no apparent reason.
Pei Fengwu turned back to glance at the two of them. She raised her eyebrows and said, ”The altar is guarded by three Lord Monstrous Beasts. Only by cooperating will the four of us have the opportunity to take the Beast King's treasure. Mo Wen is the strongest among the four of us. If something happens to him, do you think that the three of us can complete the task?”
She gave the other two a cold stare. Then, she continued to make her way to the altar, fighting with all her strength.
Only by joining forces would the four of them have any hope. Any one of the three Lord Monstrous Beasts was an existence that they alone could not match. If Mo Wen had not already killed a Lord Monstrous Beast, it was likely that they would have stood no chance at all.
It would take three of them to each keep one of the Lord Monstrous Beasts occupied. Then, the other person could approach the altar and steal the Beast King's Treasure Box. This way, it would be possible for them to successfully complete the task.
Although they could not defeat such terrifying monstrous beasts, they could restrict them for a short while.
However, Hou Jingfeng and Gong Zhangyan were intentionally slowing down. They were purposely not aiding Mo Wen, watching as Mo Wen faced the encirclement of the three Lord Monstrous Beasts. This was despite the fact that it was clear that, if Mo Wen died, it would be impossible to complete the task with just the three of them.
”Narrow-minded.” Pei Fengwu gave Gong Zhangyan a cold stare. She knew that each of the men held grudges against Mo Wen. In their current situation, such grudges should be put to one side. In such an environment, all the human ancient martial art practitioners should be working closely together, especially against monstrous beasts. They especially should not be fighting against each other. She looked down on this unprofessional attitude of Hou Jingfeng and Gong Zhangyan.
Gong Zhangyan's face turned slightly red when he heard what Pei Fengwu had to stay. He could ignore the views of other people but he could not ignore her words. He sighed slightly and stopped dragging his feet, instead rushing towards the altar with all his might.
Hou Jingfeng's gaze changed slightly. After hesitating for a while, he too hurried towards the altar. Although he hoped very much that Mo Wen would die at the hands of the three Lord Monstrous Beasts, he knew that what Pei Fengwu had said was true. If Mo Wen died, it would be almost impossible for them to have an opportunity to steal the Beast King's Treasure Box.
Comparatively, the Tower Spirit's task was naturally more important. Hou Jingfeng would deal with Mo Wen another time.
Mo Wen was surrounded by the three Lord Monstrous Beasts. The pressure on him increased greatly, preventing him from taking another step.
Any one of the three monstrous beasts was terrifying beyond compare. With the three of them joining forces to surround him, Mo Wen had a hard time even protecting himself.
The Cyan Light Eagle controlled the power of the wind. It could cause the wind everywhere to change as it wanted. If it wasn't for the fact that Mo Wen's Glory of Wind was a rite of passage martial art, he would not be able to use it in such a situation at all.
The Erupting Inferno Lion controlled the power of fire. It was the Lord Monstrous Beast with the strongest attack power. Mo Wen did not dare to face it head-on. Even a careless graze would injure him.
As for the Blue-eyed Earth Shattering Pangolin, it was the strongest support on the battlefield. It controlled the power of earth, weakening Mo Wen's ability from all directions.
Battling with these three mythical beasts was like dancing on the edge of a knife.
Mo Wen raised his eyebrows. If this continued, not only would he be unable to reach the altar, but it was highly likely that he would die at the hands of the three mythical beasts.
Just as he was considering whether or not to retreat, a white image reached the center square.
Once the white image appeared, it flew into the air, directly heading towards the Cyan Light Eagle. It was none other than Pei Fengwu. As well as her sword Qi, she wielded a longsword spiritual weapon in hand. She appeared to Mo Wen to be like an Immortal descending from the heavens.
Caw!
The Cyan Light Eagle screeched angrily. It opened its mouth, and a bolt of cyan lightning shot out. It made contact with Pei Fengwu's faint white sword Qi which quickly shattered. The lightning bolt continued forward. Pei Fengwu waved her longsword, sending out beam after beam of icy sword Qi. Only after crashing into tens of beams of sword Qi did the bolt of cyan lightning gradually disappear.
