654 Treasure Box (1/2)
The silver moon hung in the sky, covering the forest with a cool light. The beasts howled, and the wind blew.
Mo Wen walked out of the forest step by step, his shadow stretching a long way behind him.
He had decided to complete the task. Even though it was very dangerous, there were many opportunities to be gained.
Earlier, the tower spirit had given everyone a message. There were endless opportunities in this place, as long as you were lucky and had the ability to grasp them.
Accepting the task given by the tower spirit might be one of the ways to take advantage of the opportunities that Mo Wen knew were here.
He did not know what the prize hidden in the task might be, but he knew getting his hands on it would not be easy.
Mo Wen believed that even if he did not manage to defeat the four monstrous beasts that were all at the peak of the seventh rank, as long as the beast king did not awaken, then he would still be able to get away.
Furthermore, he had four allies. Those who had accepted the task would definitely have a bit of skill.
As soon as he had accepted the task, a map had appeared in Mo Wen's mind. His location and the location of the abandoned city were both marked on it. He could reference the marks in his mind to find the abandoned city.
The ancient city was not far away. It was about 30 kilometers from the forest he was in. As he emerged from the forest, Mo Wen could see the ancient city from in the distance.
The ancient city seemed especially desolate in the moonlight. No humans lived in the city—it was inhabited solely by monstrous beasts.
Whoosh!
Mo Wen had reached the edge of the ancient city when a dark figure flashed by him. The ferocious figure rushed at him from the dark before Mo Wen had even been able to enter the city.
Mo Wen flung his palm out, killing the seventh rank illusionary beast instantly. There was a flash of light that quickly became a shower of starlight, entering Mo Wen's body.
A ball of red light floated in mid-air. It was another low-grade Healing Light.
Mo Wen now possessed a dozen Healing Lights. They were all low-grade healing lights but in Mo Wen's view, one could never have too many healing lights. Earlier on, a Saber-Toothed Tiger Demon had snagged Mo Wen with its claws, seriously injuring him. Mo Wen had used a low-grade healing light and had been completely healed.
Mo Wen continued to walk into the city, not attempting to hide. He knew that he would not be able to conceal himself from the illusionary beasts in this space.
All of a sudden, roars could be heard coming from the beasts of the city, all of them joining in one after another. This was followed by a large crash. It seemed as if numerous armies of beasts galloping.
”Eh? What's that?” Mo Wen narrowed his eyes and stretched out his sense of perception. He discovered that the beasts in the ancient city were all moving in large droves towards an area.
Mo Wen glanced at the city thoughtfully. ”Has someone already entered the ancient city?” Such a kerfuffle would not occur amongst the monstrous beasts in the city unless a human warrior had already arrived there.
He knew that there were four human warriors who had accepted the task, but he did not know who had arrived in the ancient city first.
Mo Wen tapped his feet gently and he soared upwards. He flew towards the ancient city at the speed of lightning.
The monstrous beasts discovered him the moment he entered the ancient city. Droves of monstrous beasts surrounded him.
Mo Wen twisted his wrist and flung his hand out. A gray light glowed and a small mountain peak flew into the air. It grew bigger and fell to the ground forcefully.
There was a loud crash and many monstrous beasts died beneath the mountain peak. A shimmer of light flowed out from beneath the mountain peak and flooded into Mo Wen's body.
The monstrous beasts at the periphery of the city were not strong. Seventh rank monstrous beasts were a rarity here. Mo Wen could kill many of them with just a strike.
The gray mountain peak was a top grade spiritual weapon. It was extremely powerful in this space, more than doubling its original strength here.
Mo Wen charged through the outskirts of the city because he knew that the treasures of the beast king would definitely be in the center. He would only be able to steal the treasure if he could reach the center.
A large number of monstrous beasts surged up to Mo Wen like a tidal wave. However, the monstrous beasts could not withstand Mo Wen's casual strike. Shimmering starlight kept flowing into Mo Wen's body, increasing his strength. At the peak of his attacks, starlight gathered and flowed like a vortex beside Mo Wen.
It took Mo Wen 15 minutes to reach the center of the city.
This part of the ancient city had been completely abandoned. It was littered with fallen walls. However, there were several tall and large buildings in the middle. Some of them stretched up into the clouds, looking dignified and elegant.
It was clear that, in the past, the city must have been extremely prosperous.
Mo Wen discovered that there was a large number of monstrous beasts surrounding the northwest corner. He could vaguely make out a person taking out the monstrous beasts.
It was possible that the person Mo Wen could see had attracted the attention of a large number of monstrous beasts because he had been the first to enter the city. As the next to arrive, Mo Wen had not encountered as much resistance.
