Chapter 49 Chapter: 004 First Mission (2/2)
”Let's rest a while.” Elijah had finaly managed to halt the carriage. After several hours on a emotional trip with the carriage, they were at the end of the forest and Elijah monted a small camp there.
Looking for a relatively spacious spot, he taked several things like a table, a pot, a several vegetables and bottles of spice from his smartphone. Elijah placed the pot by the fire and grabed a few herbs from the ground around them, before placing the herbs inside the pot.
”Chloe, can you give me one of your knives?”Then he looked at Chloe who was still surprised seeing him cooking.
”Yeah, take one.” Chloe took a knife from her pocket and passed it to Elijah who began cutting the vegetables above the table.
Chloe noticed that Elijah's hands were very nimble and in a few quickly movements, all the potatoes and carrots had been transfomed into several thin pieces.
Then he put the vegetables on the pot and the herbs he had droped on it had all become a green liquid transbording of life energy.She had not even managed to get a clear look at his actions before he droped a soup on two small pots, so he took out two spoons and handed one to Chloe.
From start to completion, Elijah had made all of this in several minutes, his movements were adept, and it was obviously not the first time he cooked like this.
”Ell, where you had learned this?” Chloe could not help herself and asked as she never knew he could cook.
”More than one year ago, when i was in the caravan going to the academy. I had met a few older ladies who had teach me how to cook.” Then he pointed to the soup.
”The herb i had put on the soup is called wood stalk, is a unique local specialty in our northwest region and it can only be found here. When you warm a wood stalk, it turns into a medicinal soup equivalent to a rank 1 potion but this herb don't works with other herbs so no alquimist uses it on their potions. But is extremely delicious, especially when cooked with other vegetables.”
They lifted their spoon, and they started eating. The soup was a pale-green colour with the pieces of vegetables floating on it. It had a bery tasty and light fragrance,the fresh and tender potatoes were already extremely delicious, made even more so with the soup and carrots.
The pot which was filled to the top, after a short while, it has been polished off by the two of them. Elijah took his smartphone and began mapping the area.
”Ell, where exactly we going to? At least let me have some idea.” Chloe asked with her voice full of curiosity.
”From what i know, Galdirth is near the continent's center. So we are going to the Kouzia Empire's Riverfrost City as they have flying type magical beasts who will make the travel easy. As for the carrieage we will left it in the next city, which is a few quilometers from here then we will go walking...”
'BOOM!'
At this very moment, a huge explosion rumbled in that area when a great light blinded them. After a few seconds their vision came back and Elijah asked. ”Chloe, are you okay?”
”I don't know what happened right now, but i think something has crashed.” Then she get up from the ground full of dirt. ”Ell, Come, let's see what is happening.”
Reaching a huge crater, they saw three people in the middle of the crater and Elijah's first reaction when he realized who they were was... ”Shit!”
