8 Mission Accomplished (1/2)
Rita took in a long breath, her sweaty palms trembled; so did her small pink lips. She had come this far, there was no way she was going back! She blinked several times, her false lashes battered. Rita had a plan, for her sake she hoped it worked accordingly. She put an e ort to calm her nerves as she stared at the door, as if waiting for it to automatically open. It was late, maybe she should go back home and rethink her strategy. NO! She was going through with it even if it kills her. She shook o her doubts and subconsciously wiggled her shoulders as if wading o a taboo.
After several knocks, the door opened. There he was, the man of her dreams, her soul mate from heaven. The lord carefully listened to her prayers this time. Fresh waves of delight clogged her throat as she threw him a timid smile. His co ee-brown eyes looked weary and those scrumptious lips made her day dream. He had a supple boyish face with an unusual square jaw that accentuated his masculinity. His chocolate complexion was smooth, excluding the few spots on his right cheek, which she found adorable.
Rita snapped out of it, she had to; there is more to be done than dreaming. He had a questioning expression on his face. 'Say something' she thought, but her mouth wouldn't move.
”What are you doing here? Its past ten,” he said. There was a sudden frown that creased between his brows, she wanted to smoothen those cracked lines. Rita swallowed hard and played with her ngers. What was wrong with her? She thought she had it under control, there was no backing down. Why was she behaving like a fool in love?
”I…I…I...I,” she said, angry at herself all of a sudden. ”My roommate and I had a ght, I can't stay there tonight,” she blurted out. He softly narrowed his eyes on her before he let her in. Rita hid a smile, her eyes gleamed of mischief as she softly bit her lips in excitement. She was a step closer in accomplis.h.i.+ng her mission. She scanned the living room, there was a magni cent at screen that could turn anyone to an addict, a play station and a full set of sound system that would convince one that they were in a cinema room. A russet centre rug held a small gla.s.s table, which contained a set of keys and wrappers of candy on it. She slightly shook her head 'men'. Rita turned to face him, maintaining an innocence air about her.
”I have a spare bedroom, follow me” Kolade walked sluggishly and she trailed behind him like an obedient child, her eyes glued to his b.u.t.tocks. It looked soft and round just like the pu -pu she ate in the morning. She wanted to grab it and squeeze to test her theory.
Rita felt antic.i.p.ation drill her. It would be her rst time staying in his house this late, which was a big deal for her. Kolade had been her friend for over ve months. He was in a relations.h.i.+p when she met him but thankfully he was single again. She had been waiting for this opportunity and now it presented itself on a diamond platter. Rita hoped she wouldn't screw it up.
”Kolly, I really appreciate it,” she followed him down the hallway as he nodded in response. He opened the door and there it was; a simple room. The blue wall set a cool atmosphere. It was neat and there was barely any furniture except the plastic chair that was inches away from the bed. She was sure his room would be more suitable but didn't feel it was necessary to protest her opinion.
”Sorry, it's not so fancy. No one really sleeps here, there is a blanket in the wardrobe. Make yourself comfortable” his voice, husky.

”I don't mind, thank you,” she bowed her head and played with her ngers, waiting for him to say something.
”Okay, I need to get back to sleep. Goodnight,” he closed the door behind him. How could he be so rude? He didn't even bother to ask if she wanted to have a talk. Disappointment stung her. Was that all he could do? Was he so una ected by her presence that he would just go to back sleep? She resisted the urge to kick down the door. How can she seduce him when all he thought about was slumber?
Rita adjusted her pillow several times. It had been almost two hours and she still could not nd sleep. She sat upright, frustrated. She couldn't just sit here and let him be by himself, especially now that she was this close. He probably wasn't sleeping either and might be thinking of her. She must go to his room at once!
Rita stood in front of his door. She actually knocked before she realized, she had no excuse for her rude interruption. The door opened and Kolade stood in front of her with no vest, she let her eyes wander all over his wide shoulders and slowly down his blue shorts. He was groggy, with swollen lips that looked like ripped berries, she wanted to kiss him and wondered if he would be angry if she did. She should just go ahead, it was the right moment; was it not? Why couldn't he be less appealing, he was driving her insane! For a moment she wondered why his lips were so smooth and succulent, did he apply lip balm at night. Was that not gay? It couldn't be. He had a girlfriend, she mentally tapped her forehead. Just maybe he was attempting to seduce her also, why else would he be wearing a lip balm?
”What is it?” he asked.
”Hmmm…” she slightly shook her head, her eyes large as garden eggs and mouth pinched in restraint.
”I didn't know you were sleeping, I couldn't sleep and I was wondering where you keep your cups. I would like to make some tea,” she uttered. He stared at her as if she had lost her mind.
”At half past midnight?” he asked, pointing at the wall clock.
”I am really crazy about tea,” she chuckled nervously.
”Check the second drawer,” he said, and waited for her to leave. When she did, he reluctantly closed the door. She shook her head. Never had she felt so stupid in her life. What could she have done? She made the best out of a bad situation—she liked to believe so.
Rita shook her head and grabbed her hair in frustration. She hated tea, out of all excuses in the world that was what she came up with? Her mum was right she was a little slow in the head. It was around one in the morning when she knocked on his door again and he opened the door with a frown, his eyes b.l.o.o.d.y red.
